I remember one friend of mine asking me to play one of the trackmania games since 2005, but it looked so boring without collisions. I only started liking the series when I played a Canyon demo in 2014 and got addicted to the series since then.

It was only partially a racing game but did anyone play Test Drive: Eve of Destruction?? That game was amazing. The figure 8 racing and demolition derbies were a blast. Plus a great early 2000's soundtrack.

The funny thing about Trackmania games is that they are extremely arcade, but at the same time they have got depth.
Anyone can play Stadium, however there are so much techniques that take years to master. Like for example speed drift, powerslide, speedlide, neo slide, air control, wallbang, geardown, transition, etc etc etc

I've been trying real hard to like NFS 2015. It's got a lot of what I like, decent car visual customization. A selection of shitboxes to rice and tweak. Pretty solid driving mechanics. The live action stuff is actually a little endearing. But man do they shit up the rest of it. Always online, my game shut down twice because their servers fucked up. The navigation system in game is rendered on their end, so there have been a few times during a race where their connection got spotty and it stopped telling me where to go and I had to restart.

Here's hoping the next one will be better.
Also is it just me or is the music real fucking quiet in that game. Trying to cruise and listen to music but I can't hear a damn thing.

Assetto Corsa is also my favorite racing game. But you are right, it's a shame everyone is just on the trackday server. When I find interesting races, you first have to register at their shitty website, earn some points, etc. before you can attend.
