Honestly they've been kind of obtuse on the topic since there are relationship values like in the first game, but they also said that the story and endings aren't dependent on them like the first game.

We do know that MC has choices for who she brings into battle alongside her pokemon, and growing closer obviously makes her girlfriends more potent in combat.

There will probably also be character-specific quets chains that'll arguably be the "dating" thing.

It isn't that they hate the Vita, but know that even die-hard Vita fans won't really enjoy the Vita port.
Trust me on this, I own over 130 Vita titles and absolutely love the system more than any other, but the Vita port of Nights of Azure nearly overtook Doki Doki Universe in bad ports. At some parts, even Atelier Firis looks better and runs smoother.

It sold well in Japan mainly because Japanese mindsets legitimately don't care about FPS and graphics and shit if they have waifus they love. While I don't regret buying this, I completely understand why they will skip it as it looks like a N64 game, has screens blurrier than Skullgirls pre-patch, and runs worse than the start of Atelier Firis for 50% of the game.

On top of it all it just isn't that good mechanically either. Even Neptunia titles had greater depth.

The one thing I'm wondering about instead is why they overlooked Blue Reflection when it ran and looked okay.
