I beat him with two different builds: pyro and quality, both with their attack stats at the soft cap and with +10 weapons with optimal infusion and I was still doing shit damage to him. His first form in particular has huge defenses. That fight took even longer than Midir or Nameless King.

Visually he was cool, but in terms of difficulty he was a major disappointment. He only took 3 tries and that's likely only because my connection dropped on the second. Maybe he's harder with different builds, but I went in with the Desert Sorceress set, Havel's shield and I think the drakeblood sword and he was a total chump. Still can't believe that's the last boss fight dark souls will ever have.

I was attacking him every chance I got during the first phase and with the quality build I could even attack him nearly after every swing of his during the second and third phases, since I had a faster weapon. It definitely takes longer than Midir or Nameless King. Midir also has a lot of HP and defense, but you can deal a lot of damage by attacking the head and you can eventually cause a stagger and get a critical on him. And Nameless King takes way more damage and his dragon is surprisingly frail if you hit him on the head too. I don't remember the numbers with the pyro, but with the quality build, I could do around 250 to Midir's head or Nameless King but only about 180 to Gael on his first form. He loses some defense during his second and third, but his HP pool is still gigantic, so even then, each hit only takes a tiny chip off of his bar. He's not even hard, but it's really tedious.

Yes, 900 damage would vastly outclass 500 in the odd scenario where you can swing twice with an UGS in the time it takes for a much faster small sword to swing 3 times and that you're not bullshitting those numbers. Like I said, this build worked fine against all the other bosses in the game, including Midir, who is also infamous for his huge HP pool. Gael just has a lot of HP and his first form has a lot of defense. And the numbers are there in that video.

Having resistance to fire doesn't screw over any build, dumbass. Pyros can use sorceries and miracles too, and later on there's even dark element pyromancies. In fact, the Demon Prince is weak to dark.

I took a hit around 7:00am and another around noon. The fight took around 10 tries because I was indeed having trouble gauging distances, especially during the first phase with that fucking hill. The 2nd phase was easier because I was able to just stay close and turtle his hits.

If you had one boss from any of the games including Bloodborne because why the fuck not, to be the final boss of the series, who would you pick?

Is much faster and has much shorter cooldowns than almost any other boss in the series
Can be parried AND BACKSTABBED, but only if your timing is on fucking point
Has near-instant counter moves and a huge amount of combo mixups to keep you on your toes
