Her hands are not centered where the center of the suits hands are, hence why she does not seem to be able to move her hands up too much.
They touch the inner wall of the suit and mostly go in an arc back and forward to shoot.
Her legs are apart to fit in the suit and most of the locomotion is done by the exosuit itself probably.
Also the proportions are obviously off since she is supposed to be almost the same size as the suit, but even with the wrong proportions it fits if she is placed like she is in the image.

While 08th is shorter and more casual-friendly it really doesn't do a great job at portraying the core idea of Gundam.
Also the director died halfway though iirc and its romeo & juliet plot is kinda out of place

As for the compilation movies they were made later so they had some redrawn and added in scenes and removed the "monster of the week" filler from the alter half of the show.
However they also condense the desert arc with Ramba Ral to fit in the events that occured on earth, and a lot of the show took its time on earth.

I mean I can get that muvluv in particular made them pretty similar since they were trying to go for a somewhat grounded and restrained level of technology. What I was referring to in my original post was mostly how many other mecha series use a very similar structure to them that I can only describe as the mecha version of sameface. Zoids is another series that has some really great and unique mecha designs.
