There's a lot of stuff leading up to HW but most of it is filler that you can ESC through and not miss anything of import. Just go with your original character and do leveling dungeons and shit until you get the hang of it again. Or Palace of the Dead, which I will not explain since I have explained it way too fucking often. Just look it up and try it out if you want to remember the basics. It won't teach you how to play your job but no one will shit on you for getting used to controls again in there.

Is mch still viable? Is the class half as fun as it is in pvp? The heat mechanic is clunky at first but really fun once you get the hang of it and the new animations are sick. I know their DPS got fucked and its a little harder to play since overheat at the wrong time is a dps loss.

It's fragile on solo content, use the chocobo companion. It's a shitty tank but it will heal you okay. Save swiftcast to do a heal boost when you need it.

Rhythm is basically:

T1 - Jolt
T2 - White or black dualcast.
T3 - If nothing procced (you didn't use that guaranteed proc off T2 white/black and it was a loss on the 50%) you swiftcast back to T2 white/black to proc. If it still doesn't proc jolt again then dualcast T2.

Swiftcast does not activate dualcast but it does activate the T2 50% chance of proccing T3 White/black magic. So you just use a swiftcast to get a free T2 white/black in.

Keep WHM/BLM within 30 points of eachother or you get penalized with agonizingly slow time to balance it. At 80/80 or more you do your dash forward, Melee 1-2-3, dash back combo. Weave in OGCD blue sword single target and blue sword multi target damage ability. Weave in other OGCD abilities.

At 70 you have to make sure before you do your melee rotation that WHM or BLM is +1 or more above the other so you can do the big nuke.

Scatter is your cheap pseudo-AOE. Just spamming it allows you to possibly get enhanced scatter (more BLM/WHM per hit). Moulinet is like your melee 1-2-3 in that it will benefit from (and drain) 30/30 mana or higher in exchange for an enchanted moulinet that does twice as much damage as regular Moulinet and twice as much as scatter.

Manification at 60 for when you have 40/40 mana as it will double it to 80/80.

It's a rhythm game for RDM.

A bit, and there's the fact that the 2.5 GCD is much more noticeable when you're under 80 ping and don't have much packet loss. As for myself, being unlucky enough to live on the East Coast, I've noticed the game has become slightly more sluggish in that I now have to spam keys to get them to go off sometimes during prime-time. And if I press them too fast with the timing I was used to before the move, it simply won't register combo steps. I have to consciously hold back a moment before attempting to execute shit.

The game's designed to function smoothly at and below 150 ping, officially. In practice it depends on the job your'e playing and how much packet loss you have.

Our DPS values are trash, but that doesn't make MNK a hard job. That's like saying HW PLD was a hard job because its DPS values were trash for the effort it required to push 123 123 123.

MNK's rotation is horribly simple, especially now.

They reverted the change because they changed weakness to only reduce your main stat and they didn't want it reducing vit on tanks. That's a very long time to have to put up with this clunky new kit. Buffing the potencies won't make it feel any better to play. SCH doesn't need help healing things, that's what the other two healers are supposed to be superior at. It just needs its mana sustain back and Adlo cost reduced, especially since Broil II spamming is the primary way to deal damage now.

Lustrate has changed? The class is still ludicrously powerful and one of most powerful in pure recovery. Throw a Fey Union on a tank and slow res a death, Emergency tactics succor with indom and a lustrate to save two others, Dissipate the fairy and excog the MT to prevent him from dying to autos after the tankbuster while the OT gets brought back up. Unlike WoW, MP is still an actual resource and no one can battle res so much when Brink of death puts you into one-shot range for most mechanics which needs even more babysitting from the healer. You may be correct about current tiers and Creator, but FFXIV's Midas/Gordias is so far beyond the difficulty of most WoW raids its not even funny. Not only that, FFXIV has had almost zero history of actual gear checks and it's almost entirely a performance check where one death pretty much throws the pull.

But MCH is, strictly-speaking, bad. It has less utility and damage than BRD. In PVP it's one of the best classes (fucking people up with surprise wildfires never gets old), but in PVE it's pretty much worthless right now.

how relevant are sss dps checks compared to actual dps checks? I managed to beat susano sss with 0 seconds left as a red mage does that mean i'm the bare minimum or way above what's needed?

If you're a RDM you have to tone down your opener because i have yet to see a tank who doesn't lose enmity to fleche + veraero/thunder
Also why's there a singular target aggroing you in a dungeon pull? If you're spamming scatter it shouldn't be that bad. The worst enmity problem that could happen is an enemy responding to your fleche, which should fuck off back to the tank right away since that's the only damage spike it takes
