What lol no it doesn't? They just drop the number so it's. Ot like AC8 or whatever so it's less obvious they are spamming out the same game every year.

Cod did the same thing.

They dropped the number in the titles after Black Flag because they figured it was scaring newcomers, especially since AC has a overreaching story compared to other franchises like FF or whatever.

Not the same. The only non numbered games in the franchise that were actually a sequel to the MAIN story were Assassins Creed Brotherhood and Assassins Creed Revelations.

Also every numbered game in the franchise is supposed to take place as an ancestor to Desmond Miles. None of the games post AC4 have.
