It just wasn't a giant awful disaster like TOR. Parts of MEA worked, specifically the core gameplay and the larger thrust of the story felt good.

It was good enough that I don't regret playing it, but bad enough that I cannot imagine recommending it to another human being. So "a bit below mediocre" feels right on the money.

Andromeda is, as many anons have said, a 6/10. Every part of it is just... Slightly half Assed and amateur. The writing is mediocre, the characters are mediocre, the combat is wierd and all over the place, and it just melts down into this tarpit of obviously half finished ideas and obviously reused Inquisition assets.

It was a shame, really. I could tell the developers tried. But they were out of their depth, and obviously working from a checklist of required stock elements.

Even had the game been good it probably couldn't have lived up to expectations or been the amazing experience it needed to be to love up to ME3. And being just kind of average to bad, it had no chance at all.

Brief glimpses of good covered in a lot of boring shit. Obviously half baked. I can't even muster up the energy to be mad about it, it just fills me with a depressed Malaise.

Bioware is dead, ME3 was the sound of it's coffin lid closing. It lost a long battle with cancer. The Drs leaving was just the nails being driven in

This. I don't think most people realize that "bioware", that is, old bioware, has been gone for a long time now. What we have now is divisions of EA. Different divisions for different games. So the Mass Effect division will probably get shut down and relocated to other studios. The Dragon Age studio is making a game, the Star Wars MMO studio is maintaining their game and doing DLC probably, and there's at least another division doing that new game, whatever the fuck it's called.
