I liked Unleashed, Colors, and Generations quite a bit to varying degrees but haven't seen much to get me excited about Forces. I hope the game isn't a misguided, budget-constrained mess since that's what I'm fearing it to be right now.

For Mania though, I don't have much reason to be concerned comparatively.

I'll probably pirate Forces eventually but it's not a priority for me.
Default trailer Buddy is cute as fuck though. I wish he wasn't just a stand it OC and was his own character.
We'll probably never see him again since he's just a placeholder and the comic is kill.

I wouldn't say forces is looking all that autistic since the character creator is too basic for that and the only way for the OC to play is as a gadget nerd. There's no room for the bloodedge the demon/angel hedgehegs with tragic pasts and who are secretly related to shadow.

I'm not a classicfag, I want all aspects of the franchise to succeed, but Mania is making half of Forces look completely underwhelming and redundant. We know classic is going to look like half-assed garbage compared to Mania's gameplay, so that's a third of the game already that's going to be disappointing. And since they still, still, after almost twenty godforsaken years, still haven't learned their lesson and are still forcing multiple forms of gameplay into one single game, that means we know everything else is going to be half-finished and underwhelming. It'll be better than Lost World and Boom no doubt, and for that alone it'll get a decent reception, but it's still going to be disappointing. I don't hate Forces or modern gameplay, I just want it to actually be legitimately good for once.

Forces is very underwhelming right now because they haven't shown anything noteworthy. The OC was the only interesting thing to come up and we've known about this game for a whole year now. It's very irritating because even though I'm hyped for Mania too it's not really what I'm looking forward to the most.

We've seen Green Hill once again, and Park Avenue which is a level that had so much potential to be something great but it got shattered by unnecessary 2D shit once again, and it's a 30 second intro level like Tropical Resort

And the OC levels are literally just the mission levels from Generations.

Like, they've shown so many worthwhile levels for Mania but shit for Forces. Show something interesting, have a cool ass marketing campaign like they did for literally every other modern Sonic game.

I'm hyped as fuck for Mania. Everything shown looks fantastic and it's a return to the best gameplay the series has had.

I'm cautiously optimistic about Forces. I liked Generations quite a bit and don't mind Forces following the same blueprint. The OC stuff seems gimmicky though, and the game won't have nostalgia to fall back on like Generations did. I am hoping it turns out well but I'm not entirely convinced.

Blaze is basically one of the only post-Classic characters that actually compliments Sonic's character. After Mania's release, when Sega shows a Rooftop of Forces then I can get interested, until then I don't care for the OC and its gameplay or classic Sonic that won't be as good as Mania.

Honestly, i'm cautiously optimistic about Forces but nothing about the gameplay stands out. The stages so far look short and bland, maybe due to early game stuff but the Custom Hero just gets a bunch of enemies lined up so they can spam their wispon weapons for lots of explosions. Combine that with excessive 2.5D yet again for Modern Sonic (and Custom Hero by association) and it's like they've learned absolutely nothing.

At least the Wisps have more acknowledgement than just being power-ups like Lost World, but I also hate that Iizuka's fetish for reusing Wisps because of Colors' success really has become mainstay now.
