How great was this series in hindsight?

Sly 2 is my favorite game. 1 was solid. 3 and 4 were okay. Solid over all.

not that great. jump and hit the circle button makes for boring platforming and the minigames bloat sucks.

2 is the best. 3 had too much minigame focus. 1 was alright. Never played the fourth game.

Agree. In fact this is a pretty much unanimous view of the series isnt it?

I think Sly 2 is the best platformer game for its era, and possibly all eras before it. 3 was too muddled, both story wise, mini game wise, and character wise. Sly 1 has a lot of heart, but isnt nearly as groundbreaking as 2.

Eh, not that good.

They never REALLY wanted it to be a stealth game but they would put in stealth concepts but make them function like platformer mechanics. I don't mind 1 because it's a linear platformer so it's still fun enough but when i got to 2 with those awful hub worlds, i just checked out.

Also the animation is fucking awful and the characters are shit even for kids game series. Jak and Ratchet just blow this franchise out the water.

1+2 are great games but Clockwerk is 100% dead at the end of 2. 3+4 are worse in many regards. Coincidence? I think not.
