I just started an Oblivion playthrough. I like difficulty so I moved the slider up to around 75%, and I can't even get past the first two rats. What the fuck? Is there a certain way you have to play if you put the difficulty slider up?

The difficulty slider in the Elder Scrolls games simply adjusts how much health enemies have and how much damage they do. It's best to play them on default difficulty, especially Oblivion because its shitty fucking level scaling that permeates the entire game means enemies will always be your level no matter what so you will always have the same challenge, it will never get easier or harder.

Not like it's a matter of skill, I just do barely any damage to the rat with the sword I have, while it hits me extremely hard in return even if I block the attack.
