kotor sucks and only nostalgia protects it. The gameplay is horrendously shit even for an old rpg. You seriously have to play through the first hour or so as a class that becomes entirely irrelevant to the rest of the game once you become a jedi, totally wasting development to the point that guides recommend you try to not level up at all until you become a jedi. Then of course being an rpg they couldn't have you just effortlessly butchering things with a light saber so it's just a glowy wiffle bat that's a bit stronger than a regular sword.

Also carth is a whiny little bitch and sucks ass. If you play a girl he tries to flirt with you in the first 20 minutes.

HK-47 is great, although I prefer his dialogue in kotor 2 a bit more since we actually get to hear him talk about hunting down jedi. I wish there was more stuff like that in star wars, the only thing better is stories that don't involve jedi at all. It does make using force powers offensively kind of a bad idea but the other end of the spectrum is walking through the game force storming wave after wave of npcs with no effort. force storm is retarded conceptually anyway, why can't I use the force to stop peoples hearts or something to efficiently kill them without going full sheev and drawing enormous amounts of attention to myself.

I do agree that they could have handled the transition to a jedi a bit better by giving you a basic force skillset like in Jedi Outcast. Start you off with push/pull/storm/speed and all that and let you level them up fairly quickly to a moderate level. However I still stand by my point that it's not nearly as bad as people claim it is, the game never really felt unplayable for me even when I was doing my Consular run.

Same. Light side gives you access to cheap heals, shields, and destroy droid (which makes Malak fight super easy) and dark side gives you all the purely offensive attacks and debuffs. Even when you're only around Jedi level 12, you wreck shit with those. Not to mention, everyone usually gets Force Speed which is fantastic.
