The thing is, with third party games, all it would be is a dumbed down inferior multiplat. At the most, it gains portability where it might have not had any before, and at the least, it just gives the reason to buy it on anything else since its inferior to all other versions. Plus, even if its good, it usually has to compete with Nintendo's own IP's for sales.

However, Nintendo has found a way to solve this. By having third party developers borrow their IP and make a game of their own, they have found a way for third parties to get guaranteed sales, not need to compete with Nintendo because their game is a Nintendo game, and have the superior version of said game by it being exclusive in the first place. They have solved every problem third parties had with putting their games on Nintendo consoles, and all it took was third parties being allowed to use Nintendo's IPs for a change.
