Dark souls 1 is unarguably the best in the series

instead of being its own little thing, this felt more like a cheap thrill, tribute act to DaS-1 and the shitfest that DaS-2 was (at least DS2 tried something different )

The DaS2 hate is just too much. It has some bad ideas, yes, but it's biggest sin was being released right after DaS1. DaS3 would have received 10x more hate. There's nothing as bad as Soul Memory or ADP but everyone would have hated the linearity, super anime weapons, and amount of enemies (and mimics) much more coming straight from DaS1. The reaction would have melted /v/ I guarantee. DaS2 would still be considered bad but accepted as being more true to the series.

The movement controls are the main problem I have with DaS2. The fact you can only move 8 directions is retarded and really inhibits the ability to have pixel perfect control of your movement. Further more the weapon play feels extremely floaty and unsatisfying. Add in the much shittier meta and you have an irredeemable attempt at a souls game.
