Once you get injected with the titan serum you have like something close to 13 years to live, that's why the others select someone for the shifter to pass down the shifting ability.
So if you are a titan shifter that knows whats going on you'll know that you will die by being eaten by a fellow comrade.

I love Erwin's character, my favorite in the series and I wish they would have chosen him but it still makes sense that they chose Armin. Levi knew him better than anybody and he was just completely breaking down mentally. He was needed to act like he did and although having some psychopathic traits he wasn't a complete, emotionless psychopath so being the commander of so many dead partners became a large burden on him.
Armin has the potential to be just as good of a commander as Erwin, he's young and ambitious like him about getting to know the truth and experience the outside world. I just hope that they made him a bit more mature and manlier since he's supposedly like 19 now.

Why do you want to spoil this for people? The fact that you are spoiling manga/anime makes you no better than a fat virgin.

Too bad that you think so, the manga has just gotten better in my opinion. Fleshing out Erwin's and levi's characters along with showing more symbolism about the connections with nationalism that the story has.
It's really popular but I still think it's one of the most enjoyable manga's I've read with a story that doesn't feel too familiar.
