The main draw of the game is the combat and two characters to customize and dress up. You'll probably grow tired of the world and memorize every enemy spawn location pretty quickly. Story is nothing special. Music is great. Play on Hard for more gold drops. Start the Bitterblack Isle expansion once a certain thing happens late game. It's a really good 6-7/10. Definitely worth $12.

it's one of my favs too. This is like the first game I have ever beaten several times in a row. I've never done that before. And it's worth it to upgrade your equipment past its limit and then go to the Isle to body the Reaper in the post game content.

You CAN get by with pawns but hiring a lot of pawns can be expensive and the endgame enemies will take too long to kill or WRECK you solo for the most part without ridiculous gear. When I played, sorc pawns can carry you because of their ridiculous damage output for almost any enemy. For the harder stuff like extreme missions, you will need to have buddies to play with, either other foreigners or friends since those missions can be brutally hard where you face multiple bosses at once.

The map would be great if they hadn't filled 80% of it with an impassable mountain with only one 3 minute linear route through it.

Don't be afraid to use periapts to overcome the defense of enemies. Game unfortunately uses a very basic attack - defense damage formula so if you do not have a certain amount of attack, you will do garbage damage.

I really want to like this game

I've played it a little bit, but never got too far in
Honestly just running around and parkouring on shit is fun but I'm a sucker for fun movement

I wanted to make a small, fast, dagger-wielding rogue/thief character. As expected I was dishing out pretty shit damage, but I'm not sure if that's because I was a smaller dagger user, or if it was just because shit tier equipment.

Those of you who love this game, any tips to help me enjoy the experience a little more?

Magic archer for BBI. Those ricochet arrows are murder skewers in tight hallways.

Stack buffs from curatives, periapt and charms.
It will save you a ton, i just beat daimon for the very first time as level 97 assassin using tons of items to keep my buffs lit the entire battle.
Having your pawns carry party-wide currative also help a lot for auto-healing.

Damage is literally attacker's strength - defender's defense, either physical or magical. Gear is the most important thing.
Level ups give stats based on your vocation at the time, so play as every vocation for a bit. Don't worry too much though.

I know it's cute for the novelty, but warrior class is fucking useless and I end up only getting rangers and sorcerers.

Started a new character yesterday, and for the first time ever I made a mage. Holy shit, mage's pretty sweet to play. Can't wait to upgrade to a sorcerer.

Do not give you or your pawn the inflection augment. It's bugged and will actually DOUBLE the amount of damage you take while preparing spells.

People will generally avoid pawns with the guardian, nexus, or medicant inclinations (though they might pick up guardian for a healer)

Don't believe the meme that warrior pawns are useless. Use them if you need help staggering a larger enemy and don't be afraid to switch out pawns that aren't helpful at the moment.

The game's hard mode was developed for people who already beat the game in the original (and had all their equipment, levels, vocations etc.) I wouldn't recommend it, especially since the game starts to throw all the money at you, making it significantly easier after the beginning hurdle.

You can customize non-main pawns with the tool from adjusting their exp or level so that you have impression that they leveled up along with you just like your main pawn did. You can also change their inclination points and learned skill and augments.

As for look you can do item swap through their inventory but keep in mind that if they died and cannot be revived, all changes you made will be lost, this include level, adjusted inclinations and equipments they posses before their death so you either have to do it again or just deal with it.

You can change their vocation too, but i think that you can't change their enemy/map knowledge level with this tool also you can't alter their physical look.
This tool only allow you to recustomize your character and main pawn appearance, which can be done without mod but with more hassle.

DDO would be god damn perfect if they didn't change up the core gameplay fighting large monsters. I was so disappointed that you had to fight monsters in a set form of combat whereby you had to deplete some weirdass "stamina" meter by tugging on their dicks rather than just being able to wail on it and attack it's weak points, or getting him to shake one leg if he's a cyclops and focusing attack on his only standing leg to trip him up like you can in regular DD.

Play as Fighter and then as Assassin as soon as you hit level 10 (This gives you the highest Strength stat possible.) You can easily change your class at level 10 by going back to the starting town at night which will transport you to the DLC where you can change your class before getting to Gran Soren.
Use these Augments:
Sinew - More speed
Vehemence - More damage
Leg Strength - Even more fucking speed
Clout - Even more fucking damage
Adhension - Enemies literally can't shake you off anymore
Opportunism - EVEN MORE MOTHERFUCKING DAMAGE
Now use Hundred Kisses and Gale Harness.
Now get rings that upgrade Hundred Kisses and Gale Harness.
Then you get the Framae Blades (Best physical damage daggers in the game) and upgrade it to Gold Dragon.

Congratulations, now you're moving at Sanic-tier speeds and kill everything in one hit.
If you encounter anything that's big you just fucking jump on its head and kill it in a fucking second using Thousand kisses (And I'm talking about hard difficulty here).


Also, I recently started another playthrough and as soon as I got to Gran Soren a message saying "You sold or lost an important item" showed up, I got confused since I didn't sell or drop anything but I went to Black Cat anyway to check it out and there were no important items. They don't "learn" like people used to think, as that kind of AI doesn't and will never exist in the foreseeable future.

What they will do though, is increase their Bestiary knowledge, which makes them MUCH better at fighting enemies they've gained proficiency with and have "learned" about. And their Inclinations are the most important part. They greatly change pawn behavior, and will make them do different things depending on what is set as the Primary, Secondary, and Tertiary inclinations. Inclinations constantly change values depending on your actions and things they encounter, so they can change behaviors seemingly fluidly, sometimes for the better, and usually for the worse.

If you've played through the game already then go ahead and look up Inclination effects and what ones you should have set as your main 3 depending on what you want your pawn to actually do. There are a few you should actively avoid, as they'll make your pawn a worthless sack of shit, and there are a few you should actively try to enforce as they'll make your pawn an absolute beast.

Easiest way is stack periapts and using Ranger to spam Tenfold Flurry with Blast Arrows.
I however prefer using Strider, stacking periapts, then spamming Brain Splitter over and over. Does immense damage, and doesn't seem to knock him down as quickly as blast arrows, so he tends to stay longer before teleporting away.

Yeah, that's why it's good to pump as much damage as you can before he teleports. Makes farming him a bit faster. There is a useful strategy to get him to consistently spawn in the same area repeatedly, involves leaving Rancid Bait Meat on the ground, reloading, then re-entering the area he spawned in or something like that.

Easiest way to kill him for experience is the hit him with tons of Blast Arrows when he spawns in the area with a huge chasm. Hit him enough and he'll fall to his death. Easy levels, but you'll miss his good drops.

Basically Guardian is exactly as it sounds, they guard you.
When they should be fighting enemies or doing anything else, they're sticking to your ass.

Inclinations determine the general behavior of Pawns, there is no best its mainly what you need them to do. There are however a worst inclination, and that's Guardian since this inclination will make a Pawn hover within hugging distance of the Arisen and if possible go shoulders deep in their asshole. So much so they forgo combat to study the Arisen's ass.

In short if you see a Pawn with Guardian as the primary, or secondary inclination don't hire it. If it's your Pawn get rid of the inclination.

Worse, every single time you use the "come to me" command that you HAVE to use, your pawn's inclination for guardian goes up.
So you have to give your pawn the ol' mind wipe drug and redo them every few hours.
