As anyone thats actually played it has discovered the ZeroG shit actively makes the gun fights and playing the fucking thing worse.

Its just not fun to float about trying to hit something else thats floating about at the sametime. Most of the utility skills have fucking lock on for that very reason. All I have to do as the combat medic is vaguely look at someone and hit E and a little drone shoots out and heals them.

I've been testing since Alpha by the way, it had come on leaps and bounds in terms of speed and responsiveness. They actually listened to the testers telling them that the cooldowns on all the traversal skills was way to high which meant they ended up trudging for extended periods of time. Everything is much tighters and faster.

I love these threada because depending on the time of day you either get a thread full of people hyped for the game or a bunch of people trashing it for no reason other than that its not overwatch or something already established.

It's not that fun

Played an hour of it, got Flawless MVP first match and couple more MVPs later. I absolutely love Wraith so far, getting the hang of Combat Medic and the rocket class is tough though. Still haven't tried assassin.

I really do like how the ults aren't auto "I win" buttons. Sometimes I did well enough I forgot they existed.

I used to love Unreal and UT so much. I played those games and to this day UT2K4 remains one of my most favorite games of all time nothing but auper fond memories of it.

Too many modes are samey.
Some classes are way too unbalanced and in the favor of laggy users.

Maps are pretty lackluster too.

It's too early to tell if some classes are just plain better than others, but right now Wraith is really clicking with me. Lots of movement abilities, great up-close damage, and accurate enough to fight at long range

The antigrav area was cool in theory, but they're ruled by hitscans if you even dare leave the ground on a bad trajectory.

I feel like the grav areas are going to get old quick and people are going to learn to just stand in the doorways to the area and fire on fools just floating in midair.

For such a "fast paced" game, there is surprising limited mobility outside of a few light classes.
And yes, I'm aware of the blindfire launching, it's just mostly shit.

You can kill an Assasin in 1 or 2 rockets with Titans and you can detonate them mid air making it piss easy to hit. You can also slow them down with the slow down grenades. Assassins are the easiest to kill if you change class.

I tried playing it last week, did the tutorial and the training range. Was pretty annoyed to see that I had to play people vs AI until I levelled up enough to play the actual PvP. Queued twice for about 10-15 minutes each and never had a single game light up. Gave up and uninstalled.

Is the actual game map like the training range? It was literally just a single winding path with about 5 different spots / nodes / towers / whatever you want to call them dotted along the way.

I was getting the impression it was similar to MNC but I couldn't even get into a match to see how it was.

Goddammit, MNC was so good. I would love a similar game to play.

Except Overwatch maps generally aren't small or arena shaped. They're mostly long, linear, and composed of chokepoints.
The only maps that are arena like are KOTH maps and the dedicated arena game mode that was released far later after release and is balanced for 3v3 instead of 6v6. As for KOTH, the sheer nature of the game means advancing is still far more methodical than that of an arena shooter.
GITSFA is basically a F2P CoD. it doesn't even deserve to be called an arena shooter

I use it all the time on nearly every class. It's essential to the game to travel through the low gravity zones.

I just played a match and I have absolutely no idea what's going on. I also don't enjoy the gunplay very much. I don't how everyone is floating around a lot of the time. I'm not particularly invested, but I'll play it for at least a few hours.

I also really don't enjoy heavily team-based modes. I came in expecting deathmatch. I don't want to have to rely on randoms to get anything done like I'm playing some MOBA-shit.

I play pretty much fighting games exclusively because of this. The new Quake is alright if a little barebones. The only other FPS I play nowadays at all is a bit of TF2 from time to time. Still team-reliant but you have a lot of freedom to just mess around and do silly shit.

Is there an actual deathmatch only mode in this game? I'm not sure if it would actually be all that fun to be honest but I'm curious.

I remember reading about this game on here from time to time and I wondering why so many people were hammering it for being shit, but I think I get why.

Maybe it's actually a really great, legit, shooter with a high skill cap and so on, but it feels like it's combining the most boring and unspired elements from FPS and MOBA games. Probably an unfair assessment but I can't be arsed with it.
