I never see the topic of what games have the best use of sound, so let's see what the people of /v/ think. It find it quite strange that this is something so very rarely mentioned when discussing games, as the audio can enhance an incredible amount of what is going on in-game.
I think the game Bloodborne is one of the best examples. It has clear and natural sound effects, great voice acting, fantastic score, dynamic sounds, it knows when to use music/volume effectively, everything seems to echo and reverberate correctly. Again, it really enhances the overall mood of the game. (Gameplay example if you are unfamiliar: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vtj19enwgSE)

Hardly anyone has ever topped Thief's sound design, both in technical aspects and in sample quality.

Everything sounds so unique, from the Heaven Smiles' laughter, to the confirmation noises in them menus.

Axiom Verge has great interplay between sound effects and music. Pity about everything else.

Battlefield has godly sounds. Even stuck up hipsters on /v/ have to admit this.
Mortal Kombat X

Seconded, it's top notch.

I think it has a great soundtrack but the sound design is really noisy in areas (noisy as in indistinct, not loud) and there is a constant reverb effect regardless of the area you're in.

Nothing has topped it in terms of incorporating sound into gameplay.
I wish more game had sound reverberation. It's so lame in games like Counter Strike where sound volume is entirely distance based and you can hear footsteps straight through stone walls rather than hearing the sounds bounce out of the nearest opening.

Battlefield does it well for gameplay. Youre able to tell what kind of gun/class is shooting at you right away and generally where from

That sounds awful on CSGO though
>>382124437
That's pretty good but the audio still isn't redirected properly. In the first example, the audio shouldn't sound so muffled just because the guy is to the side of the window. Basically all it's taking into account is whether or not there's an obstacle between the audio source and the receiver. So the sound is heard muffled through the wall, rather than being heard clearer through the window.

No more heroes and killer is dead both come to mind as well

ost aside the way the light katana sounds came out of the wii remote for no more heroes was pretty cool. as you explored the world all the menus and mini games had a very "video gamey" sound to it to fit into the atmosphere of a killer otaku.
killer is dead had those dream sequences where the sound was distorted if I remember correctly.
