It does. It means consumers are finally NOT buying mobile shit or playing Pachinko bullshit which 9/10 is designed to fleece them and that is fantastic for the gaming industry.

Having a core audience actually going out an buying consoles in general can only be good for the gaming industry as a whole rather than see it decline like in 2013-2014. This year and last has truly been the best years for gaming in a long while.

Japanese sales still heavily matter to Japanese companies, even if sales are dwarfed elsewhere. Monster Hunter has been on the 3DS for awhile purely because the fanbase in Japan prefers mobile play for it. They shown signs of loosing up a bit, what with Nintendo going region free, MH getting a western focused console/PC release, simultaneous global releases for some franchises, etc. But these are still very much the exceptions and only with the largest franchises. Japanese tastes still heavily influence the Japanese developers and publishing markets, and thus the wider videogame industry,
