Dunno if amerifags are in the same boat, but I've started buying used for the first time in years again because prices are simply too high to be affordable anymore.

I make roughly 1200 a month on a minimum wage job. After bills and food I barely have enough to buy games anymore when a new game will come to around 100 bucks after taxes. (Looking at you botw).

I guess it makes a bit of sense considering a lot of the old gamecube and PS2 games I collected over the years were already slightly old since there was such a selection back then, and lots of resale.

Dunno senpai, I find it a bit depressing that i've gone from 50 game collections to like 5.

Oh i'm trying, but its a bit difficult when employers want a university degree for anything beyond 10.60 an hour. Not to get political either, but the mass inmigration has made getting any job difficult with higher population and affirmative action.

Taxes are $30? Fucking really? Even for Canada that's ridiculous. Wouldn't importing be cheaper?

Either way the price to content ratio is definitely being skewed in favor of price. Shit like ARMS you could probably beat in a rental. Dunno if they have that in Canada or not. If I'm going to spend $60 on a game I'd expect it to last for months, so something like Disgaea might be acceptable at that price, but ARMS? Fuck no.

Wouldn't an increase in population lead to an increase in services needed? Canada isn't Sweden. You guys definitely have enough open space for habitation. The problem is that nobody is actually developing the neighborhoods that should have been built decades ago.

I started my job when I was 16, as a dishwasher making about $8.50 an hour. I'm now a cook making $15 with no formal training in the latter. I also live in one of the most expensive places to live in Canada, so it's totally possible. Just gotta search out the right kind of job.

It's do-able, senpai. I believe in you.

>>382091868
Eastern canada. Food is more expensive and tax is 15%. There's also huge competition for jobs since our local economy sucks. People come here when theyre old and rich to die.

No they're not getting too expensive. Video games are considered a luxury good for a fucking reason anon. They're not a right, nor are they essential. If you can't afford them, or can't find a way to pirate, then you can't play them. Tough shit. So why don't you stop being a little bitch and either fix your situation, get good at handling your money, or stop complaining.
>>
>>382090426
Only a cuck would by the game new. It's expensive, unfinished, until they release a ton of patches, DLC and shit. It'll be 50% off in a month and 70% in two. Can't you wait?
>>
>>382090426

This is why piracy exists. I'm surprised the Switch exploit has not developed into a full-blown piracy solution already.

I would buy one if it did.

>Wouldn't an increase in population lead to an increase in services needed?
Hypothetically yes, but the gains are generally reaped at the middle class & up. Mass immigration depresses wages of the lower class and it's universally a negative to have competition willing to accept third world wages. A gas station attendant (for example) who used to make $15 CAD per hour now makes $10 because there are so many more potential workers. And this is what the middle-upper and upper class want, because they now pay their employees $10 instead of $15.

This is coming at precisely the wrong time in history, too, because automation is going to slaughter a lot of those lower skill (thus lower class) jobs. Europe and North America are going to end up with a lot of jobless angry blacks, muslims, and latinos in the future, and that's not a recipe for stability.

>>382090426
Americans have seen their wages stagnate since the 1970s, which primarily hurts the lower and lower middle classes, so yeah it stings. The problem is that video games are actually undervalued with respect to inflation. Games used to cost $50 USD for a new AAA release as far back as the SNES in 1994, which in today's money should be close to $100 or so. Game developers aren't earning as much money as they should be, because their audience has stagnating wages (due to globalization and economic migrants).

The minimum wage is 500 in my country. Stop complaining.

>>382090928

You're not entitled to Western luxuries.

Hell, if you're Eastern European, you weren't even part of the games market to any meaningful degree before 1990. Honestly you're not part of this conversation at all.
>>
>>382092202
This. They busted some guys at the Mackinaw Bridge about a decade ago with dozens of cell phones. The reason for it was that the guys were driving from store to store individually, buying up all the phones from Walmart, and then reselling in their own state for a massive profit.

Canada is so suffocated by taxes that doing something similar with a less controversial item seems far more logical.

Just drive down to Detroit with exchanged money, and enjoy the desperation of businesses trying to compete with an almost non-existent economy.

https://newzoo.com/insights/countries/russia/

$1.4 billion value, assuming it's relatively equal in spending, means 44% * $1.4b is $600 million.

http://www.pcgamer.com/pc-gaming-market-worth-36-billion-in-2016/

PC gaming market is 36 billion, so $600 million is like 2%. Not very significant.

Since even your best case is insignificant, let's look at the actual topic of the thread, which isn't limited to PC games. Pic related, Russia is not even top ten in gaming spending overall (PC, console, mobile, whatever). And note how none of these are Eastern Euro, unless by some monkey magic you include Germany.
>>
>>382093467
I don't live in Russia. Try again.
>>
>>382093606
Ahh the tiny infographic actually already did that calculation for the Russian PC value, which is 0.68 billion. So pound for pound, Russian PC users buy more things than other platforms in terms of % of audience for Russia.

Because the jobs you do aren't valuable to the global economy? Not my fault.

4chan isn't Romanian, Google isn't Ecuadorean, Microsoft isn't Russian, Amazon isn't Serbian, etc. etc. Seems like you need to get your act together if you want to compete.

Like I said, you aren't entitled to Western luxuries. Quit whining and fix your own country's economy

Guess I'm lucky then. I live in a small community in Nova Scotia and work at Michelin Tires. I've only got a high school diploma and I'm making $23/hour plus shift premiums. There's also lots of opportunities to take courses to improve your chances of promotions to better paying day jobs in the plant.

>>
>>382095106
Communism in the form of "socialism". Keep everyone dead broke, while exploiting their services for pennies on the dollar. It's great for those at the top, but leaves almost no economy for the actual people. Take away any form of quality control and oversight, and you end up with cheaply built everything, that is dangerous and unstable.
