Well, I'm on /v/. So clearly I don't play videogames. Why would I need higher framerate since everything else is 30fps?
But no seriously, I have a TV that doubles as a monitor because I game mostly on consoles. My old TV was turning to shit and falling apart but I was too broke to buy a new one. My family surprised me and got me a tv for my birthday, its 1080 60, I just found out the other day its actually 4k but Hz rate cuts in half when using the 4k mode.

I'm more than happy with it since my old had ghosting on every other column of pixels and backlight died.

Your eye cells give the brain a signal of X strength depending on the light's intensity, but it is not instantaneous the change, there is a lag, and it's from this lag that the eye's motion blur comes from.
And due this lag it is possible to perceive for example a white frame that lasts like 1/2000th of a second, as long you had a bunch of black before.
But i think in terms of fooling the brain, what you need is to deliver a constant motion blur.

Your brain don't just process the picture itself, as it extracts motion from the motion blur that your eyes naturally generate, and artificial "frames" or even artificial motion blur causes gaps on your natural motion blur or overlaps and this is where shit gets hard.
