There are game mechanics that are basically entirely broken, Guard Libra being the most standout one. The balance between the top 3 and the rest was completely non-existant, people complaining about shit like Nine or Izanami in CF straight-up either don't know or don't remember how stupid Rachel, Nu, and Arakune were in that game.

Also, even in terms of casual content, the game was broken. To 100% a characters route, you had to not only clear every route, but you also had to lose every match for no real reason, because otherwise it wouldn't register the player as having cleared everything. Sprites were also very poor, better than XX but still embarassingly stiff. It doesn't even have anything to do with modern day standards, fighting games like previous installments of KoF and SF were already more fluid in their animations. They've improved greatly over time and even in CS the new characters had far better animations, but that doesn't change how it was for CT. The game also did not have "great online play", the netplay was bad, really bad. Roster-wise it was unique, but still had a small launch roster. CT was "enjoyable", but it definitely wasn't anywhere near a top 20 fighting game, much like many of the games in the list.

The air combos you can do feel very satisfying to pull off and don't take much time to learn as there is a kind of rhythm to it that's not as crazy fast as other games.

It plays a lot like Marvel with it's assists and character archetypes, but it also takes beats from anime fighters as well with shit like burst. Overall a really solid fighter with incredible visuals.

It's like 3 bucks for the basic version and 8 total for all of it on steam right now, but the PC online community are kinda awful to fight against (kinda like how online Marvel is awful to fight against as a new player). Best play to try it would be at a meetup or something.

However it'll just be easier to do it by series in general or if they're different enough. Iterations. Cause you'll be ended up with a lot of damn SF titles on there like SSF2T, Alpha 2, Alpha 3, Third Strike, SSF4, USF4, SFV, etc, etc. So something like Alpha, 3,4 or Guilty Gear XX and Xrd will do the job you want it to do. A very complex game, Soul Calibur IV is an extremely difficult game to master. Giving users the ability to fight as characters such as Star Wars’ Yoda and Darth Vader really made this title stand out to me as the graphics were amazing and the opponents were challenging. Soul Calibur IV is easily my favorite title in the Soul Calibur franchise.
