Why did this not get localized?

Spinoff with totally new character is niche below the niche. Look at Edgeworth's 1st game overseas sales, take that number and maybe one third or half of it will be Dai sales. Such sales would be ok for an indie studio but not for Capcom
Because CrapCum hates their fans. That's all there is to it. They don't even bother giving us physical releases any more, fuck em.

Capcom said it was due to the Sherlock Holmes trademark. I don't know if we can really believe them though.

Please, just the Holmes name along with the Ace Attorney name would make this entry sell.

crapcom

Not worth the cost as far as crapcom is concerned.
estate of the original author of Sherlock Holmes being bitches and Capcom's own worry at being able to sell an Ace Attorney game in the west without having Phoenix Wright in the title
should just make him Herlock Sholmes
Is there a fan translation?

Not sure if you can use Holmes in America as freely as nips do.
If you put something like "THE GREAT ACE ATTORNEY" as the title, there will be stupid faggots who will expect Phoenix Wright to appear because that's the American franchise name which they can relate to

>Not sure if you can use Holmes in America as freely as nips do
I guess that's the main point. If Capcom can't use the Phoenix Wright name to sell, they need to rely on the Sherlock Holmes name. And if they can't use that name, they probably think its not worth localizing.
Sherlock Holmes is public domain.

cause capcom hates money and its western pr team is the worst, see how they handled monhun right now

this, Capcom has literally no excuse in terms of copyright
they're just shitters that don't think it'd sell.

The Conan Doyle estate is incredibly lawsuit-happy and has been very active even in the past 5 years.

he is supposed to be but the estate that owns him refuses this and makes anyone who tries to use him die in legal costs
The Free Market was a mistake.
More estate taxes.
