While I know there was a shitstorm surrounding the game with bad trailers and PR and shit, and all the bugs in the console ports, I don't get why people say it's a genuinely bad game, speaking purely about the game itself and not all the drama surrounding it. It's not amazing, but it's not any worse than the average Mega Man game. It's around the same level of quality as games like Mega Man 5 or Mega Man X3.

He kind of half designed classic Mega Man. Akira Kitamura made the 8-bit sprite you see in Mega Man 1 for the NES, and Inafune expanded on that basic look when he did the official artwork for the cover and promotional material. I know it gets annoying hearing people say Inafune is the sole creator of the character, but let's not deprive him of shit he did do.

Astro Boy, Mega Man, X, and Beck.

The Mega Man series has several "Mega Mans", but they're all different characters from different eras (or in two cases, also a different timeline).

X is the "Mega Man" from the Mega Man X games, and is technically the younger brother of the original Mega Man. He was sealed away for 100 years. Although normies often call him Mega Man, he is a different character (as are some of the others who actually are called Mega Man).

People are mostly upset because of horrible PR shit. The game itself is... meh. Not great, but not terrible. It might be better if not for everything being built around the dash mechanic, but it's still middle of the road, at the very least. It's also frustratingly difficult.

If you really are planning on getting this mediocrity, do yourself a favor and buy it on PC. The console ports are very bad ports.

No, to me a MM game at the very least plays well. MN9 is a hodge-podge of various ideas and styles from other Mega Man games that do not gel well with the level design.

When the game does something new (Like dashing into enemies to get powerups), it is more annoying then anything else and turns enemies into bullet sponges because they want you to use that mechanic (As well as making bosses tedious).

The other problem is the stages are designed in a way that is closer to the X series, many times feeling like wall hugging and jumping should be there. Problem is, Beck plays more like the classic MM and does not have those abilities.

Trust me when I say it plays like garbage and isn't very good.

MM9-10 was Capcom + Inti-Creates.

We thought, naively, that Comcept + Inti-Creates would have the same result.

But Inti can't do 3D that well, and some of the quality of MM9-10 was probably the Cpacom staff, like director Hayato Tsuru.

Inti has done 3D before and they looked okay. "Gon: Baku Baku Baku Baku Adventure" was a 3DS game, and they really should have used that engine for MN9 instead of Unreal.

I already was well used to Inafune's circus when L3 was announced and I didn't follow it due to lack of interest, are all of these actually true? Because holy shit, "add a Zero" I'd have expected since he's an one trick pony, but "redesign him to be an alien" or like EXE?
