It was the most powerful console at the time. It is the new home for Call of Duty. It has nearly 4x the number of exclusive titles Microsoft consoles have. At the start with the Bone Zone was little more than a 1984 telescreen you can't turn off with "used game disc licenses" whatever the fuck they meant by that its easy to see why they took the lead.

However, I much prefer the Xbox One controller. I also think the way they lay out digital purchases is more thoughtful and its easy to see what you own, what you can buy, what DLC you have installed, what works on 360, Xbox One, or both, etc. I also like the fact they have a file browser and you can launch it easily from the main menu. The Bone Suck added some much needed power, and jettisoned the kinect port entirely.

I didn't say it had many, I said it had a few. 2013-2016 was a terrible time for consoles but if you bought in for the games, WiiU had shit like Wonderful 101, Tropical Freeze, Bayonetta 2, Mario Kart 8, Xenoblade Chronicles X, and Splatoon, and this is during the time period where owning a PS4 was basically pointless because 80% of its library was cross-gen and the other 20% was Bloodborne and nothing else of particular note. At least WiiU had its own games then, and honestly it's precisely why I think buying a Switch right now is kind of stupid - it's getting a bunch of cross-gen ports. There's quite a few factors that influenced the decision of the majority. From the lack of competition (i.e. microsoft fucking up before even starting, and the wii eww), from the price tag, brand recognition and marketing. FIFA is a behemoth in Europe because fucking Champions League's matches have PS4 ads on the court all over the place

That's the whole FIFA audience (the ones that only buy a console for that one game and maybe some other shit) plus the CoD audience (which is not the entirety of the dudebros, but still pretty big). MS should be thankful that they still have forza and that driveclub and current gran turismo aren't a big thing

After that E3, they just didn't need to fuck up and that was it. Almost 2:1 ratio

MS fucked up the Xbox One launch beyond belief, forced a shitty peripheral down everyone's throats, and now they're seemingly committed to not having exclusives. They're trying their damned best to make their own console redundant.
Nintendo caused a lot of confusion at launch of the Wii U, didn't bother getting solid third party support, and the company in general still playing catchup in the online department. Then they quietly let it die in favor of the Switch which STILL isn't on par hardware or infrastructure-wise.
Meanwhile Sony had a decent launch with the PS4, has some decent exclusives, decent online, decent third party support etc.

At this point, WiiU isn't the answer. It never was THE answer so much as it was a less shitty answer than PS4 or Xbone were over the last few years. Right now, as of June 2017, probably either work on getting a decent PC going or know damn well what you're doing with a PS4, like know the games you want and the price you're willing to pay for them and the console they're on. Don't buy a Pro just for Bloodborne or some stupid shit like that. Wouldn't say Switch is up to speed yet and I have no fucking idea what MS is even trying to accomplish with Xbone.
