VGChartz only has access to public sales data. It is over a month behind because it relies upon NPD (North America only) estimates from Neogaf and Famitsu/Media Create weekly sales from Japan. Everything else is mostly not publicly available unless mentioned in a press release so they just guess based on historic averages. They revise data when they're very wrong and they remember to. It's completely unreliable even for guess work and also because the data is interpreted by fanboys with their own biases.

Even their historic numbers are wrong. PS3 and 360 hardware totals are not accurate. The only thing VGChartz is good for is bait threads like these

The Switch has major shortages which is why its unable to have the same numbers as the PS4. The PS4 has also been in assembly for years, so not a fair comparison really.
