I think it's impossible to remove those completely. I would limit threads focusing on a single game to 1, since I doubt anyone would want /v/ to become a hipster board where we only discuss obscure indie games and nothing popular. It's easier to discuss a single video game for some people than it is to discuss more amorphous topics.

Honestly, /v/'s biggest problem is lack of community. The largest thing we've done as a board in the past 5 years was goofy goobers, and that turned into a /pol/ shitshow almost immediately. Ever since then, it's almost like we just can't organize anything anymore.
