The village was awesome, great atmosphere, great pacing but, the game starts to lose once you hit the castle.

Now I know you didn't play it since you sneak around once in the whole game you got a gun nigger use it.

Its not an action game anon its a horror game you might as well cry that old games have shit combat.
The only thing that kind of sucked was the lack of unique monsters but at least it was scary and fun unlike 6 which was just a drag from start to begging.

this is like trying to justify shitty stealth sections in non-stealth games.
the older games required lots of exploration and had a wide variety of enemies who would fuck you up if you weren't careful. 7 is slightly less linear than 6 with equally basic puzzles and the final boss is so shitty it makes any boss in 6 look like a masterpiece.

Besides the variety which was a problem monsters in 7 can easily fuck you up and the risk of dying is high which made it scarier.
Also the final boss may have been shit but every other boss in RE7 is more scary fun and memorable then anything in 6.

Ganados with parasites could instantly killed you and their ranged attacks took a decent chunk of health, as enemies they are more threatening.

This here. The co-op puzzles are cool and in general the game's design is above average (the train level is excellent and comparable to the original RE) but the lack of tension, removal of safe zones and storage boxes, and lack of care given to the mansion level really brings it down a notch.

Also for some reason the guns are nowhere near as satisfying or effective as the other games. There's hundreds of bullets to be found yet you are forced to spend them carelessly on poorly placed enemies.

Yeah the train is by far the best part of the game. The mansion is decent but everything else is trash. Notice how this is a pattern with most RE games - the first level is always the highest quality (RE4 village, RE5 shanty town, CV prison, Revelations ship, Rev 2 prison, RE7 mansion).
REmake and 2 are the only ones that are consistent in quality imo
