SF5 is a tough game to rate.

On one hand I like the more aggressive, up-tempo fighting that encourages movement and quick thinking.

But the game has a low skill ceiling. I was watching the top 8 of SF5 at CEO and one of the players was using Akuma, my main. When he won I remarked that I feel like I didn't learn anything from watching him play. He didn't do anything I wouldn't have done myself, I just don't know why he's more successful.

If this game had more of an exploration component, it'd be the best SF game ever.

Its a fantastic game for new players to learn teh fundamentals of fighting games because its accessible enough without being TOO casualized like SFV is but it has enough depth that good players can easily expose those who are less experienced, also watching "pro" SF4 play is very entertaining.

There's no worse feeling than losing to someone who you know is much worse than you, this happens alot in SFV because of how simple and easy to play the game is.

People tend to bitch about Elena, but that isn't anywhere near as bad as ST or 3S top tiers who completely suffocate the game

Before SF4, games werent really constantly balanced for competative play (except maybe SFA2)

SF2 updated for the sake of more content and it being so big, it was just easier to update the game than create a proper sequel.

And every other franchise got updates due to the original being an absolute total letdown. Games like Mortal Kombat 3, Fatal Fury 2, Tekken 5. And ironically those updates are often considered the best in the series by their own communities. Ultimate MK3, Fatal Fury Special, and Tekken 5: Dark Ressurection are often praised to be best game in their franchise.

USF2 is the best incarnation of SF2 hands down, online, all characters selectable + 2 more shotos, every character can be good, balance changes, grab techs, + extra stuff like HDR graphics and an art gallery. Only problems are that it wasn't balanced enough (lol Violent Ken) and the pricetag.

As a chun player in ST a ridiculous amount of my damage output comes from ticking stand strong and low short. Tick stand strong and then throwing with negative edge is like the #1 BnB for me.
