>The best Middle Earth is in Minecraft
Depressing times desu
>>382037824
>That pitiful lack of buildings within the walls
Even LotRO is better
>>382037824
>that pathetic scale
That's like something off the campaign map of the Medieval 2 LOTR mod.
>>382037914
LOTRO isn't autistic enough to build the entirety of Middle Earth
>>382037824
play middle earth total war. it's the best lotr experience you can get
>everyone just copies the shit from the movies
That's not Third Age Total War.
>>382038998
The movies were extremely accurate with their presentation of how the book described things.
>>382037824
>Never played LotR games on gcn/ps2/xbox
>>382038998
>Copies the best visual depiction of Middle Earth to date
>Copying the great art of Alan Lee
Why is this a bad thing?
>>382038808
I agree it's great, just wish there was a real RPG out there.
>>382037824
Wolfenstein ET had a better minas tirith
It was also more fun with the low gravity, quad rockets and whatnot
>>382037824
That isn't the LOTR minecraft server
>>382038998
The only thing the movies got wrong is the fact that there are no farms outside the walls.
>>382037824
So is there some kind of modelling program that converts 3D models into minecraft blocks? Or is this all built by hand?
>>382039543
There is, but I think this image is an older one.
>>382038998
Seems more like monkey see, monkey do than using creative energy if you ask me.
>all of the LOTR/silmarillion paintings
Alan lee was a fucking master
>>382040102
He's still alive and drawing anon.
>>382039703
can you tell me why kids like minecrap?
>tfw the Easterlings betray you.
>>382040102
fuck you McMangos make more videos swedish prick
>>382037824
minas tirith in lotro is absolutely massive, anon.
fucking four tiers, full of quests and npcs to talk to.
not to mention lotro is really lore heavy, being influnced more by the books than the movies.
>>382038114
Humies in LOTR can't into architecture
How come the dorfs aren't living in there? They built it anyway
>>382037824
>>382038114
>>382037914
>>382038190
>LOTRO isn't autistic enough to build the entirety of Middle Earth
so you didnt play the game? they are adding alot of shit to it. not to mention zones like angmar and mirkwood, gondor and rohan are absolutely huge.
if theres onething that really makes lotro stand out is the great scenery and huge zones.
>ywn play a rohirrim build
Architectonically the best everyting is in minicraft (playable, that is), also Minas Tirith should be bigger and have thousands of buildings.
>ywn sit by the fire listening to tales of Turin
>>382042309
is lotro worth it?
>>382042309
That aspect ratio doesn't seem quite right.
>>382043772
It's an MMO. You'll either love it or hate it. But I remember it took a few hours to really get anywhere
>>382042309
Angmar is legit the most amazing MMO zone I've ever seen. Holy shit, it so dreary, unwelcoming and daunting in scope. It's what Icecrown in WotLK should have been. Nothing in Angmar is convenient, all the friendly NPCs are hidden away in remote corners and it takes fucking forever to get anywhere. But it felt so worth it to push through all that bullshit and see Carn Dum in all its colossal horror.
>>382043772
depends on how picky you are with mmos.
lotro is a game that you should absolutely play if you are really into the books. they pay close attention to detail and the zones are massive and beutiful. that being said. also dont try to rush from 1-105. its a fun game when you are exploring or doing the epic battles, but as far as dungeons and raids go, its nothing new.
pro:
>huge & beutiful zones
>friendly community
>metric fuck ton of quests per zone
>some quests have you following in the foot steps of the fellowship of the ring
>get to see and interact with most major characters in some way or another
depends on your tastes:
>because most people group up in LFG channel, the lfg tool is bearly used
>some zones are so huge its even a pain to traverse them on mounts
>no flying mounts
>classes excel at their primary job, no class can do everything like in most modern mmos
>pvp isnt the focus of the game
cons:
>dated graphics (its an old game, but the character models are getting a revamp by the end of the year)
>pvp area (ettenmoors) is plagued by really bad lag
>not a lot of groups for lower lvl content, but if you spam chat you'll find people to go do them.
>f2p model isnt ideal, since after lvl 30, you have to either buy quests packs for the zone you are in or subscribe for the month to be able to lvl up. the work around this is spamming skirmishes from lvl 30 to lvl 105. but doing the same 3 "dungeons" for 70+ levels will probably consume your sanity.
I say give it a shot till lvl 30. if you like your class and what you have seen so far, keep it. if you get to lvl 20 and did not really like what you saw. cut your loses and go play some other lotr related game (like the two towers or war in the north).I also really liked elder scrolls online
>>382039170
Well, they weren't. Apparently everyone in the books used chainmail type armor, including elves.
I much prefer the movie look to what the book described, but it wasn't extremely accurate.
>>382045556
no, I am an mmo fan, but wow is quickly going down a road I will not take, so I need something new.
>>382045556
>Mer rape babbies
>Good
>>382045435
yeah, angmar was amazing in that sense, but I really fucking hated taking quests in auguhire that were like "you should go all the way to gorothlad and kill 10 random orcs :^)". still it felt really close to what i though mordor is gonna be as well.
its really the only mmo I have really enjoyed the journey from lvl 1 to max level, instead of trying to rush to max as fast as i can
>>382045556
>living in the past
AYO
>>382042189
>How come the dorfs aren't living in there? They built it anyway

My deduction skills as a detective tell
me he has quite possibly, never had sex
>>382048449
monkey see, monkey do!
>>382037824
>that scene were the mad stand in king caught on fire and sprinted from the crypt behind the castle, through the castle, and off the giant cliff face overlooking the people bellow in about two scene transitions.
I mean its a visually appealing bit but come on
>>382045556
can I explore all the zones without paying or are some of them restricted?
>>382049173
You can explore each zone in the vanilla game, but I think after Bree you need to buy the quest packs for each area with premium points (which you can either buy or grind for). Pretty sure Moria, Lorien, Rohan etc are restricted as they're expansion areas.
>>382049173
you can explore most zones in f2p. since its open world.
i think you only restriction is moria, since you get to it via instanced quest.
but if you find a hunter or captain buddy, they can pretty much teleport you to any important location.
the thing is, in zones that you have no access to. mobs wont grant exp or loot when you kill them. so if you wanna lvl up and experience the zones, you pretty much have to sub after lvl 20-30ish
