Won't happen. Most tht will happen is an HD remaster trilogy of Village, Box and Future. Katrielle is the future, and frankly, as much of a Diehard layton fan as I am, I'm glad. Herschel's adventures are over, and Azran legacy proved they were dragging it too far. Trying to top crazy world cataclysmic schemes in sequels never goes well. With Katrielle we have a fresh new start for a new down to earth trilogy that isn't as outlandish as the second layton trilogy.

Either way I'm excited.

Yes, as the original trilogy. The mystery is a simple whodunit with a twist, same kind of focus and charm the original laytons had, which is why I'm excited. Miracle mask, and most noteably Azran legacy went too big and threw twists at you left and right to where you pretty much expected it (Not to mention making almost every single star player part of the "Layton" family) There was no finese, no good writing. just shock value at every corner for the sake of shock value, and it wasn't even that shocking. And this is coming from someone who absolutely loves Jean. Despite how utterly stupid they made him in Legacy.

How would it though? I can see spinoffs and such working but the dual screens were integral to a smooth mapmaking experience. It would certainly be possible to make it switch between map and dungeon but it would be notedly very clunky and less smooth than the dual screen versions.

So far these are the only things for the Switch that look even remotely decent. Everything else is either a port, indie trash, or regular trash.
I don't plan on buying a Switch until there's a library of games I won't get tired of after a month.
Odyssey looks great, but it's not really something that'll last forever, and I doubt it'll be very challenging at any point.
Splatoon 2 looks great, and I'm very happy Nintendo seems to want Splatoon to become a mainline series, but the problem of having to play with little kids will never really go away. It'll probably get old eventually, but not as quickly as Splatoon did, hopefully.
Arms looks kinda fun to play around with, but ultimately it seems like it'd get old quickly thanks to the standard Nintendo lack of ability to balance a fighting game.
The Kirby game looks fun, especially with ability combining, so I'll definitely get that too, unless it ends up being pitifully short/easy.
I've completely given up on Pokemon as a series after Sun/Moon. Those games told me that Gamefreak doesn't even remotely care about balancing the game to be fun to play online, and that they intend to just make the games easier and easier to appeal to little kids, so there's no reason to play it as a grown person.
