Is elite dangerous any good?
Should i get it?
>asking /v/ if a game is good
Why do people still do this? You'll always get a bunch of retards crying about how shit this game is.
But yes, if you're a person who wants a game in space where your ship isn't railroaded then go for it.
It's dad, Jim.
it's very good, but very niche.
If you want epic space battles, not gonna get it here.
It's a very "comfy" game, meaning lots of down-time while shipping goods, occasionally punctuated by moments of action.
Truck simulator in space.

Is it actually comfy? I've been looking for a comfy game to play for hours, but I hear that the truck simulator comparisons are false?

Played it 20 hours straight, never touched it again. This was 4 months ago. In the end ETS2 was more fun imo.

It's the best modern space game on the market except pure arcades (Everspace, Starsector, etc.), but it sucks huge balls. Also ALWAYS ONLINE, with absolutely no good multiplayer mechanics. Take it as you will.

Da...daddy ?

It's good at emulating the feel of being in space.
fuck yes op

It is EXTREMELY comfy.
Something that helps though, is making sure you have the right equipment.
Getting a HOTAS and one of the lesser, rotation-only VR headsets like pic related is an absolutely phenomenal experience, and one of the best gaming experiences I've ever had and continue to have.
But again, the game is very niche and slow-paced. I find it extremely addictive, but I am a bit weird.

forgot my pic.
It's the Pimax 4k. About half the price of an Oculus/Vive, with no 3d movement but a sharper screen. Basically perfect for this game, because the head-tracking on the Vive/Oculus makes it possible to clip through the back of your chair/through the windshield on your ship, and absolutely nothing is more immersion breaking. With this, your head is stationary, so that doesn't happen, and the per-eye resolution is almost double the other guys so there's no screendoor effect. Total immersion.
Again, it's perfect for basically this game and this game alone, and at $300 it's still not cheap, but damn, is it fucking perfect.

just buy an xbox controller

Nah.
Nah man.
One, because you're better off with a KB+M anyway, if you're just going to use a generic controller.
Two, because this game is designed from the ground up for HOTAS/Headset.
