The Witch Doctor was meant to be slightly goofy. Like a crazy shaman that you can't tell whether they're insane or if the spirits really do feed them greater truths. WD is more about spirits and decay. Rotting jungle matter.

Necromancer is calm, cold, and rational. Necromancy is more of a magical science than a mystic tradition. Necro spells concern bones, blood, maybe a bit of poison. There's some flesh but it's red, blood-gorged flesh, not brown rotting flesh.

In playstyle, WDs run around spamming spirits, plagues, zombies, flaming bats, etc at enemies.
Necros can have skeleton armies but they don't protect them much. The Necro protects themself and has a lot of melee abilities and a lot of combo abilities.

Necros build up steam as they kill enemies, because their corpse skills exploit fresh kills to deal damage in different ways or to restore hp. WDs are frontloaded damage, casting all their damage up front and waiting for enemies to die.

The Necro burns an enemy down, then makes its corpse shoot bone spears through surviving enemies, who then die and are used to summon more bone spears until you're spamming 3 spears per second like a gatling gun.

The WD might instead cast pestilence and spirits and drop a slowing CC to keep enemies from reaching them while they take DoT damage.

PoE's grid is 90% useless trash. However, it's so fucking large that 10% of that grid is still a lot of options for a given build. To me, I consider PoE's skill grid massively sloppy, and stands in stark opposition to PoE's skill sphere/socket link system, which is pretty great even if it also suffers from a lot of "false choice" problems.

Grim Dawn fucked up by adding that "mastery" shit to their skill trees. That's 50-100 points wasted. On top of that, most skills requires too many points. Luckily, Grim Dawn is going to be open source, which means modding, which means they'll allow the community to tweak and fix their mistakes to make something better. I consider Grim Dawn to be infinitely better and more competent than D3. The devs of D3 have an arrogance exceeded only by their incompetence and constantly shit on the people still willing to play their game.

There's a new "zone" which means several extra little maps of field to walk around, but this doesn't equate to legit content. There is no legit expansion tier content to be added.
