The fishgun is so mid-to-late-00s near-future porn.
Similar how Jackhammer and SPAS 12 were in every other shooter during late-90s and early 00s, no matter that there's only a handful of both in the entire world.

There is only one working Jackhammer though, and that's just a proof of concept, so not even what the finished gun would have looked like.

Something like 37,000 were produced, they're not super common, but obviously not as rare as the Jackhammer.

The biggest issues I've read about them are that the folding stock is garbage, and actually cuts you, as well as being uncomfortable. And that it doesnt cycle very well in semi-auto mode, and is hard to cycle in pump mode.

I guess they're fairly average, though are pretty neat looking.

The OICW was a failure, and H&K decided to seperate the two systems and perfect them before trying to merge them.
One result is the XM8 for the AR portion, which is just kinda meh.
The other is the XM25, an airburst 20mm grenade launcher which is baller as fuck and is a fantastic system that the US Army has lauded as being "a game changer". Sadly, during one test it failed to fire (although the round didn't detonate) and the primer caused a small injury. Ever since it's adoption has been frozen by the Petagon and it's currently in limbo.

It's ugly as all hell, but I've a thing for bullpups, and it's just such a weirdly brutalist thing to look at I can't help but like it.

-Whatever happened to the whole caseless ammunition thing, anyway? Seemed to be all the prototype rage for a while, then just sort of faded away.
Just too much bother to produce a new bullet type, or just too much wear and tear on firing chambers to be worth it in an army standard rifle?

M8, the biggest cartridge is not always ideal. For covert operations subsonic rounds are ideal and they are much more likely to be used in close quarters with an smg. Not to mention personal defense weapons for vehicle operators. You don't want everyone lugging around a heavy cumbersome assault rifle. The type of weapon is heavily dependent on the scenario.

Basically it wasn't justified when NATO still has literally billions of 5.56 sitting around which will be good for decades to come, and the only real benefit was being able to carry more rounds per soldier, which IIRC isn't a huge issue that militaries are facing in the modern day.

>>382019152
is there a real point to having a gun that can empty its mag in like 3 seconds? Does it have practical uses?
>>
>>382019019
You can google it yourself, many people are saying SMGs are going out of style. We can just build a really compact 5.56mm rifle nowadays. Like, you give a tank crew an SMG, then they have to use it for some reason (99.9% they won't have to but you're giving it to them for that 0.1%), now they have a gun that uses different ammo from the rest of the army and is only effective in close combat, and any kind of armour can stop it. Not good.

>>382016616
in the first ghost recon, i remember figuring out where to aim the GL to mortar the enemy team's spawn with it on some maps.

>>
>>382018720

Wasn't really worth it.

One major issue with caseless ammo is that it can cook-off, that is, the ammo in the magazine can get so hot it sets off the propellant in the mag itself, which is less then ideal.

They also foul the gun something fierce, which requires frequent disassembly and cleaning, which with the G11 at least, was a fucking pain in the ass since it was stupidly complex.

Stock doesn't cut you, unless you're a monkey and ruined your stock buffer.

It had no problem cycling the full power shotgun loads for which it was designed. Light stuff like birdshot will feed most of the time, but that's why the pump is there.

It is difficult to stroke for some people because you're compressing a spring every time, but if you wanted a pump/semi shotgun, it was the only option you had for almost a decade.

The MP5s in Siege are so godly. Fast firing rate, fairly low recoil. I probably hit heads more often with them than I do any other gun.

Siege also has some really odd guns tossed in there. I guess considering that she also lays down bear traps means it's not all that out of place.

It has dual magazine tubes with 6 shells in each. Can switch between the two, which allows for some flexibility. Can have beanbag rounds in one tube and buckshot in the other, for example.

Buy something that´s good for the money (CZs, Glocks)

Hey, I never said it was a good idea, but that's how they market the thing.

There isn't really a practical use for full auto fire in anything that doesn't have a huge magazine capacity.

Full auto fire is only really good for suppression, that's why certain soldiers carry LMGs, specifically for covering and suppressing fire. Also why most weapons are select fire now, with burst fire rapidly becoming the norm.

Pistol cartridges are not very good at killing compared to rifle ones. You need to hit vitals, and that's trickier than you think. The reason people still use pistols is that they're easy to carry.

There's a reason modern pistol doctrine is "shoot them a lot" and why most agencies switched to double-stack 9mms.

A writer creates a character who is a specialist at something, and gives him a specialist gun.
Dumbasses watch the film, see the gun as cool, and buy it without understanding that a S&W model 29/ deagle model 19 or whatever isn't meant for a carry gun, or a spas is for specialists using specialist ammo, and most civilians don't need a Barret 50 to hunt deer.
