It's already regulated like most other forms of money making. I remember in a previous thread there was a screencap of some idiot on reddit who'd bought way too many cards for mining than he could actually have the space or power supply to the building he'd rented in order to utilise AND had been dumb enough to take most of the cards out of their boxes before realising this mistake meaning he was begging for help to repackage them so he could return them to the stores.

Then someone later in the thread had to explain to him how what he was doing was actually illegal for the state that he was in without proper licensing.

Bitcoin value already falling and there's a Console New Generation in few months in the Market, people will migrate to console and leave the Video Card Industry to Miners, after few months this MEME Die and Card Companies go to hell.

It honestly never has been. At no point has buying/building a PC that can play new releases at the framerate and resolution consoles do been cheaper than buying a console. It's definitely better, and playing the game on low on PC looks better than consoles, especially late into the console generation cycle, but it absolutely costs more to get into. It's arguably more economical between game sales, smart upgrades, backwards compatibility since the dawn of time, and emulation, but definitely not cheaper than grabbing a console on sale once every seven years or whatever the fuck they're doing now.

Well, that's primarily bad news for Microsoft. People using Windows on critical infrastructure get what they deserve.
However there is a simple way to solve the success rate of these attacks:
Make payments to these bitcoin addresses completely illegal, because you are financially supporting organized crime.
It's easily enforceable, as you just monitor the addresses through the network and anybody who sends money there goes to jail automatically.
Normalfags won't go through complicated money laundering just to get their data back and as a result, criminals lose 99 % of their income which makes the attacks worthless.

If GPU time becomes worth actual real money, GPU vendors will start renting out your own GPU to you.
It won't be a single purchase with free to use CUDA power afterwards, you will pay frames per second with cryptocoins instead.
For miners this won't be a problem, they still make bucks by paying slightly less than what they make running the GPUs, they just give a part of the mined coins to the hardware vendor.
But gamers will have to pay literal cryptocoins to use their GPUs for gaming.
Mark my words.

OK so in about 4-6 months the equations to mine will get so hard that they wont use these GPUs anymore and the markt will get overflown with used cards so the prices for a lets say 1070 will be around 200-300 bucks

this could also happen when the ETH and or BIT coin marked tanks since these 2 are the only not meme coins.

Tldr: just wait and prices will get even lower then, ceteris paribus, the mining stuff never happened

The issue is that they are built in Jewish ways.

I bought a normal prebuilt (as in a normal gateway computer, not alienware type shit) and it's purposely made to not be upgraded. Long story short, the bios didn't want newer video cards and ram and what have you, only items from the time the mother board was made unlike normal mother boards. This was probably to force one to purchase a new computer and make the companies more money. Fuck you Jews, I cored out my computer and put in non-gateway shit and it finally works.

They point out edge cases where something good luckily happened because someone dared to care to try and fix it, but then completely ignore the other 90% of the time where the free market blatently allows shitshows to exist, and cancer to just spread through every facet of human existence with little to no repercussions. Literally the only thing that will get damaged is fan bearing, unless the previous owner didn't have 5 cards plugged into some 500W Eurocase-tier PSU. Mining GPUs run full tilt 24/7 at 75/80 degrees depending on cooling solution, if anything the silicone should be in better condition than your gaymen cards because of less cooldown/heatup cycles and less idiots who don't know how to OC and just pull Voltage slider all the way to the right.

Operators of Ponzi schemes can be either individuals or corporations, and grab the attention of new investors by offering short-term returns that are either abnormally high or unusually consistent.

Mining crypto is the process of "competing" to resolve transactions through the blockchain, which generates more currency for a limited number of years after launch. Not a ponzi scheme, as its creator doesn't have any control over the actual generation directly.

Currency is fluid man.
The hypothetical dealer then sells his bitcoins back to the market so that the original buyers can buy again, and so that new buyers can buy, and so that other buyers can buy from other sellers.
The value of the currency is in essence the people using it growing larger.
There is inflation and shit with DUDE BITCOINS ARE WORTH LOADS IT'S ALWAYS GOING UP I'LL GRAB SOME as well. And then people who do that then sell them off at a loss or a gain because they need another currency.

So long as there's demand for the dealer's products there's going to be people willing to sell their stuff for bitcoins because they can in turn use them to get high. The coin circulates just like any other currency.

If you want another example think of the petrodollar. Part of the status that the USD currently has is tied to the fact that it was the only money you could buy oil with on the international market. Thus the dollar could never lose all its value.

Currency is a tool of society, society is the original pyramid scheme.

Two people work together because they may be better off, one is more better off than the other and directs their partner more than they are directed.
Get enough people and eventually the one directing has defined the way things are enough that their direction itself becomes justified by the lesser members and then you're set.

Currency is a construct, a stand in symbol for stuff and services you can get for it. There is no inherent value in it.

This kinda happens whenever a new generation of GPUs comes out, thanks to that processing power increase. I'm lucky, my microcenter limits GPU purchases to 2 per person, per visit. If they recognize you, they won't sell you more cards. There are obvious ways to get around it, but still, they actually have GPUs in stock at ~msrp on a consistent basis

>>
>>382035205
You use your spare processor cycles to provide computing power to somebody who directs it to be used.

The thing about the currency is that its nature has been completely subverted for its prize nature to allow for better concealed transactions.
Silkroad used bitcoins a lot before it was shut down for example.
Then it blew up more because normies saw the graph point up and got on board.
>>
>>382010947
>Mobiletards inflating ddr4 & SSD prices
How?
>>
>>382035716
No catch. You aren't earning shit with just leaving your standard rig on and farming.
Power costs and unit damage means the gain won't actually be that large.

Except when it booms, like Ethereum has recently.
It's like any investment, if you get in late you put your money in and hope for a higher return.
Or you put low amounts into high risk and maybe one of them chooses to be favored by the cartel of the month and its value booms.

>>
It's not that hard to make back your money, though it's obviously not guaranteed. Decided a few weeks ago to make a rig of my own just for kicks, which is super late, but partly as a hobby, and if I made some decent money, just icing on the cake. Bought 6 1080ti's, with the rest of the parts came out to about $4k. Decided on nvidia just because I didn't want to mine the coins amd was good at, too much competition, there are a smaller number nvidia can do well, but they exist.

After electricity, make about $40-$60 a day, depending on the price of the coin at that moment. Should make my money back in maybe 3-4 months, just selling at the low price they're at. If the coins take off, then I made a decent amount of money. If they really take off like some have, then I made a pretty damn good amount. And if they crash, well, it's fine, again, did it partly as a hobby/out of interest. I can either move to a different coin, or just sell the cards back, make a decent amount of the money I paid back.
>>
my shitty old desktop needs to be replaced, are 1060s sold out?
>>
>>382035897
Demand. Phones moved to DDR4 and you are now competing with smartphone producers. For example Samsung is a major supplier of RAM and flash. Do you think they'd rather sell it cheaply to the consumer market or put it in their devices for higher profits?
>>
>>382036461

>>
is an rx 480 good enough to mine ether with? gotta get in on that really soon
>>
Can I mine with a SLI setup? Is it more efficient?
>>
>>382035716
The catch is that if it crashes you might never break even on the cards you bought. If you already own a good card there's no reason not to put it to work. I think a new 580 was breaking even in about 90 days a few weeks ago. And that's at ridiculously overinflated prices (think $450+).
>>
>>382031072
>Not a ponzi scheme, as its creator doesn't have any control over the actual generation directly.
But he does he literally has the hash
>>
So, i have a fuckin GTX 750Ti, is it even worth bothering?
>>
>>382036730
Not necessarily. Maybe for something like ethereum. For other algorithms, getting the most powerful card you can, over the long term, will be more cost-efficient then springing for something like a 1060/1070. Initially, just due to how much cheaper the lower-end cards are(or were), they're more efficient. But the extra hashing power from the clock speeds, even if you take into account memory differences(and again, that doesn't apply to all algorithms), it makes it worth it over time.

You can get any type of drugs sent directly to your PO box with next-day delivery anywhere in Europe with no way to trace it to the seller or the buyer, unless they physically wait for you while you pick it up. It's really fascinating.

I don't really do drugs, I tried shrooms and weed a few times, not for me, but I understand the demand and I think if it's for personal use, people who are interested in it should be able to find a more reliable and safe source than a shady guy in a dark alley. Bigger sortiment aswell, for better prices.

1080 and 1080ti use GDDR5X which is not as good as the GDDR5 used in 480/580 and 1060/1070 for mining. Their prices haven't changed as a result.
>>
>>382037309
No, those are custom chips and AMD is not going to let consoles go even if they make a razor thin margins. They absolutely need to stay in console space to survive against Nvidia on desktop PC. They're that far behind in GPUs.
>>
>>382021461

GDDR5x sucks at mining.

>>382037223
The sentiment(that turned out to be hilariously ironic) of stuff like silkroad is really interesting yeah. If the entire line from production through to delivery was as anonymous then drug crime would vanish. Obviously it ain't anonymous completely and only covers the transaction portion of the process as is, but still the effects are crazy.

I'm pretty sure they did, even if them miners don't want them there's less options on the market overall so people looking for a new video card are more willing to consider those. Wouldn't make sense if 1080 cost more than 1080Ti, right?

I am from a shitty country and the value of the altcoin I am mining is quite good so I am fine. At worst it will be used 50% to pay the electricity bill but I am still profiting.

Where's that screencap of that Reddit tard OP saying he bought up all the video cards at his local computer stores and shit?

>50% to pay the electricity bill but I am still profiting
You're forgetting some cost here and 50% profit is impossible unless you're in China, a large miner or stealing electricity.
>>
>>382048492

$3000
>>
>>382048492
Initial investment at least $5000 and you still won't compete to actually make the free money hype meme. Chances of you getting that back less than 1%, because all these new miners means your machine will be the one pinged less often. As well you lack the speed to have priority over those running 10k card factories. So you're making literal pennies a day for dollars spent.

Now hiding your money into BTC isn't bad, but buying BTC to trade is bad and trying to mine is even worse. You could be a giant faggot and go off and jump to small coins like ETH, but that shit is already crashing like a stone because /biz/ shitposting and other coins are near worthless as is making you a bag holder for a scam.

Small time mining looks something like this
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CsbEWP041AA

And the only reason these fags exist is because they got pushed out of BTC where the real money is. If you aren't going to compete against these guys at minimum then it's not worth it.
Single card miners are idiots thinking free money meme.
>>
>>382048492
If you buy now and the price remains constant(it won't) you may make your money back for the purchase in like eight months or something.

>>382048610
Or the electricity could just cost fuck all, as though he lived in China.
If wages are dogshit most places still supply electricity, and it simply doesn't cost as much or there wouldn't be any customers.
So if you can magic yourself something worth more than your labour in a shithole country then you're obviously breaking out decently.

How much by day do you make with this 9 GPU rig?
>>
>>382049498
That's not me and that's not his only rig. He's got like 6 others, do you hear the fans. His electric bill is something like $1200 a month and he makes maybe $200 a month.

How can he keep this shit up thinking he's potentially making a profit in the long run?
Am I missing something? Because if I were him and saw that, I'd already abandon since it's obviously not worth it, and I'm actually losing more money than I'm making

early adopters are based on the idea they will be rewarded later, this is true for BTC, but not any other blockchain, because those blockchains rely on their creator, BTC the foundation of the whole cryptocurrency blockchain does not, because the creator is literally unknown.
So people jump on shit like ETH. Even though it's going through a severe crash currently, due to it's creator.
>>
How exactly is cryptocurrency made, and why does it depend on the GPU?

The High Mid Low tier rating system is easy to use when you compare against resolution and what the PS4 / Xbone can do.

High tier GPU's should easily max games at 1440p and play most games at 4K with either 30fps high settings or 60fps lowered settings.

Mid tier GPU's should be a significant step above the PS4, for example a mid tier GPU should be able to get locked 60fps in Dark Souls 3 and easily max out most games getting 50-60fps at 1080p and play many games comfortably with variable FPS at 1440p.

Low tier GPU's either match the PS4 or get around +10% or -10% compared to it.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bitcoin

This still remains to be the stupidest question.
It's based on proof of work, the only way a bitcoin is created is if all the computers on the blockchain verify the transaction that took place to create it and things like BTC have millions if not billions of component acceptance. Not even a super computer can crack the system to force a bitcoin to be made, because there's farmers out there with more power now. The only way the blockchain for BTC can be cracked is via quantum computing to force a bitcoin into existence.

GPU are far more abundant to slap for more processing power than using a CPU. It's easier to have the CPU as the base and a 9 GPU per chain set to handle the actual transactions based for pure speed. If there were multisocket motherboards CPUs would be better, but those literally don't exist in the same manner that would be good for mining.

Wages is not proportional to electricity cost. There is so many things to factor for mining profitability but you fucks just see some coins in your screen and think it's all profit.

Without exclusives its literally a 1080p60fps tier PC but gimped, good for people who are too dumb to own a decent PC and only care about multiplats
>>
>>382051108
Of course they're fucking proportional.
You pay your workers less so you can sell your electricity for less to make a profit.
You also can't price it too high or people literally can't pay for it.

But that's generally speaking. It's just basic stuff that we probably pay more for Electricity here in Straya than similar places. We have a high cost of living but high wages.

I'm not a mining cunt you asshole. I'm just explaining how it could be a good idea in his case.

If you could make $5 USD worth of bitcoins at a cost of $5 thirdworldbux for electricity then you're obviously making money.

Man I lucked out so hard buying my EVGA 1070 SC on release. I mean yes, I had to put up with the missing thermal mod bullshit, but I also didn't have to deal with micro VRAM, and now this.

I think I bought it for close to $600-700 here in Canada, and now it's over $1000.
