Like Yoshi Woolly World and Kirby Epic Yarn the new series is like a baby's game in design. It isn't enjoyable at all unless you are new to platforming. Also, and this is more personal, I find the aesthetic and sounds of it quite gross and ugly. If it was just for one game, I'd let it go, but they were lazy and reused assets and music and enemies for ALL of them. If they did that for a good aesthetic, like Super Mario World, I'd be more forgiving, but this is like a nightmare. Every game is the same and they are all based on the worse looking and sounding Mario experience.

The original Super Mario bros was my first game, so I do have nostalgia for it, but today it isn't anything special, in fact it's quite unenjoyable to a degree. I enjoyed playing the neat levels people made with that style in Mario maker, but the actual base levels of it just aren't fun compared to what we have in later 2D Mario games. I still love it in my own way, and am grateful it almost single-handedly gave us the game industry we have today, but it isn't anything I want to sit down and play for more than 10 nostalgia lubed minutes.

I also didn't play much of frozen dong yet aside from goofing off at a friend's house. Maybe I'll borrow that from him later.
