How do you like your hacking mini games?
non-existent
>>382008169
I like them when they are a full game.
>>382008169
I hated the ones in new vegas.
i like for them to be more of a test of execution than logic

Wireframe space shooter.
>>382009131
did they overhaul the UI or something?
if so I need to play it again.
>>382008169
something very short and simple like the one in Prey or Bioshock
I really liked the deus ex HR hacking minigame, bioshock wasn't too bad either.
Automata did it the best.
>entire OST in 8-bit format
>fast as fuck
>relatively easy
>devastating
>fluid transition between hacking and normal gameplay
>connected to the rest of gameplay mechanics as Pod cooldown continues running, healing chip kicks in and Overclock slow motion transitions into hacking space for a few seconds
>can subjugate or control any normal enemy if you get a jump on them
>that crazy hacking minigame in one of the endings
>>382008169
Infrequent.

I liked them in Hacknet even if the whole sequence was pretty basic. Thanks for reminding me about the Labyrinths DLC.
>>382013630
IIRC they brought out a mobile version like 4 years ago
>>382009131
This game was too easy
>jump across 50 nodes
>simply use all the programs that automatically hack the server for you
>erase log on that first server you have admin rights to
>done
>>382015451
disappoint.
>>382015178
A lot of the neat stuff in Hacknet was when you couldn't just kick in the front door with the tools you had at your disposal and you had to dig around for human errors and shit.

Is the game much like Uplink? Also, how much does actually knowing shit about computers help?
>>382013630
Actually there's a new UI overhaul mod http://www.moddb.com/mods/uplink-os

EYE has the best hacking minigame. Instead of hard "you need 50 points into hacking to do this" you get some leeway assuming you are good at the mini game. Some skill can compensate for the lack of points, but eventually you hit a point and shit can become unhackable if you're just underleveled.

No, there's not really any personal progression like in Uplink where you're constantly upgrading your PC and such, you just get new tools as you go along. There's also "branching" story paths, if you can call them that, though they rely on you performing certain actions the game doesn't lead you to do and all spit you out at the same place eventually. It's more narrative than gameplay focused, though you can just try and hack shit for your own amusement if you want. You don't need to know anything about computers to beat it, it's honestly a very shallow game, but I enjoyed it.
