It means you've been boinking the native slutty mermaids.
>>
Should I make a base in the lost river, it seems like a comfy place without much aggressive fauna?
>>
I'm willing to buy it now but I got some questions, if any of you could answer I'd appreciate it
>Is the world procedurally generated?
>What is the objective of the game?
>Is it spooky?
>>
>>382006438
>Is the world procedurally generated?
No
>What is the objective of the game?
Explore weird shit, build a base, etc. You can't get off planet yet I think, but there's other goals to strive for.
>Is it spooky?
Yes
>>
>>382006438
>>Is the world procedurally generated?
No-
>>What is the objective of the game?
To get off the planet.
>>Is it spooky?
Only as spooky as you imagine it. Its in water, everything is a bit dark and there's constantly something making some noice without you seeing it.
>>
>>382006438
>Is the world procedurally generated?
From our standpoint: no, the game world is static and will always be the same, barring updates adding areas. IDK how they make the game world, it may be through procedural generation, but it doesn't actively generate new terrain. the map has an edge and BAD SHIT is beyond it.
>What is the objective of the game?
A narrative for the finished product is slowly being built but the objective is mostly to survive and escape the planet.
>Is it spooky?
Objectively: Nah, aside from a few areas designed to be so, and going into hostile waters unprepared, shits comfy as fuck.
Subjectively: I have a fear of the open ocean and deep water IRL, so this game is a nightmare to play, but i love it so much.

Generally: I bought it on sale for the comfy parts and the parts I find spooky are the reason I keep playing. Don't get it if you dislike survival crafting games, as that is exactly what this game is, but if that does not bother you this game is both intriguing and beautiful(but I'm a sucker for bioluminescent aesthetics so :/)
>>
Did they change the place from which you enter the aurora? I can't find the opening anymore.
>>
>>382007373
Its only on the front now, and they put a bunch of shit in the way so HAVE to have the gravity gun thing.
>>
>>382007461
Yeah fuck that then.
>>
>2 copper to make a wire
>need wire to make buoys
>need wire to make computer chips
>need copper to make batteries
>need lots of copper and tons of computers to make everything
>there's more gold and diamonds than copper on the map

What the actual fuck? Would it kill them to balance this out? Would it also kill them to make recipes a bit more common sense?

A seamoth requires titanium, a battery, glass and lube. Somehow it doesn't need a CPU or wiring kit and fabric. All these crafting games have arbitrary crafting requirements and it makes things feel cheap and too easy to acquire.

On top of that, the blueprints progression is beyond broken and fucked. Somehow they decided that the alien base with the ion battery schematics should be in the last 5% of the game. Why? Why is it that I get a PRAWN and drill arm fragments when I already have everything else I need in abundance? Why does a PRAWN grappling arm need an advanced wiring kit that only the Cyclops needs when it would make more sense to make it out of titanium, rubber, and a CPU?
>>
>>382007373
No more safe entry from the side, now you need to pass the reaper leviathan patrolling the front of the ship. Though luckily it usually just swims around a bit deeper under you without really giving a shit about you,.
>>
Is the big round room a blueprint or am I missing something here? Same question for the crafting bench and the thing from which I build the seamoth.
>>
Is there an actual time limit when you get infected now or can I just fuck about at my leisure? Time limits would really fuck with my fun having.
>>
>>382007809
Pretty sure the infection shows up after 2 in-game weeks.
>>
If any of you Unknown Worlds bros are in this thread, great job with the new user interface. Somehow you managed to make a bunch of the icons look the same or have been downgraded and don't have nice art like they used to, the PDA screen itself is ugly, and the grid pattern is too dim to quickly see how much space you have.

Great job, guys.
>>
>>382007850
I got it after like 3 days.
>>
>>382007461
>>382007519
You can just jump over the stuff if you want to access the reactor and seamoth bay. Access to the Prawn suit bay and habitation requires either a laser cutter or a grav gun though.
>>
so whens the full release?
>>
>>382007850
Yeah but does it matter? Am I going to suddenly die after x amount of time or does it just mean I get green and blistery and that's all?
>>
>>382006438
>Is the world procedurally generated?
nope
>What is the objective of the game?
Currently none, eventually it will be cure yourself of space herpes and get the fuck off the planet
>Is it spooky?
Only if you have a phobia of open water

I put it on my ssd but it doesn't make a shit of difference, the game still stutters like a bitch. The stuttering is one of the reasons I quit playing the game, it's extremely jarring going from 60 FPS to 10 FPS for a few seconds every time you load a new area.

>>382014372

It's a bullshit reason though. The dev said something about dislodging rocks to crush small enemies but you can't even fucking do that in the game. Worse yet, there's invincible giant monsters that can follow you all the way to the safe zone and even on fucking dry land and there's nothing you can do to reliably DETER them, let alone kill them.

There's the freeze gun but that's only reliable for smaller stuff and not the sanic speed instakilling Reaper.

How about a speargun that can only have 3 shots which you need to refill in your base or Cyclops, which you use to take out bonesharks?

How about some kind of single-use sonic device that scares Reapers away?

How about some difficult-to-craft torpedo that can only be fired by the Cyclops that you use to turn the fuckers into soup?

There's so many possible ways to arm the players without being effortless cod bullshit.

No, because you have items like Molotovs and distraction devices, as well as the environment and other enemies to make use of. Print a workbench, some basic tools and electronics, print a stasis rifle, print the seamoth shock mod, take them to your bench, void the warranty by repurposing them into a massive electro bomb blaster. Make the repulsion gun into a flak cannon. Make the stillsuit and vortex torpedoes into torps that implode enemies with rapid dehydration. Get creative, it's a fucking sci fi game.
It would give them more chance to reinforce the corporatist hellhole your character lived in before the crash with your pda constantly yelling at you not to do it and how you'll be fined and sentenced to 50 million mandatory unpaid work hours for your crimes to survive without authorization.

a common theme i have seen in video communities is the amount of people who get absolutely buttblasted when you happen to have criticism about a game, or its dev's opinions has increased in a pretty extreme way. honestly there isnt much else to attribute it to but an increase in politically correct culture permeating all aspects of society.

take a step back and realize how it only looks like you were triggered. most of what you said was hurr durr cod babbies at it again. muhh right wing muh nra false equivalency with you thinking 'v wants devs to do what they want' unless it's something that triggers "butthurt NRA tards." most criticism has been about the lack of in game mechanical depth as well as people simply not liking a political agenda being put into a game AGAIN. you cant get around the dev designing an aspect about the game around a REAL LIFE political agenda.

They're completely harmless except for the ballooning defense where they turn themselves inside-out to push out spines.

I must have been gripping my chair with my anus on that first trip to the floating island. I kept hearing the reefbacks groaning and when I chanced a peek underwater, it was nothing but deep blue. After I explored the floating island, I nearly shit myself heading back to my base because the battery on my seaglide ran out in reefback territory. I also made the next two trips swimming because I hadn't found the battery charger yet and didn't want to waste all my copper on batteries.

I wish that there were more creatures with realistic behaviours in the game.

Stalker for example. Why are they aggressive towards you? You are just as big as they are, why would they go after you instead of the peepers? It makes no sense for stalkers to be hostile to you unless they are protecting their egg nests or something like that.

>>382047528
as cool as that would be, it would need to eat a lot of whales to get enough energy to survive, let alone hunt/reproduce
>>
>Also would the game be even scarier if it had a lot less cartoony artstyle
In the real world, most of the deadly creatures you're not supposed to fuck with are brightly colored. There's a scientific word for it, but in a nutshell if you see some brightly colored creature it's probably full of bad shit that'll kill you. The reaper isn't scary because of what it looks like, it's scary because of what it's capable of. You ever see those tiny octopuses that fit on the tip of your finger? They're pretty cute but their poison kills a man in 5 minutes.

The lore is that mutinies on other space vessels created a ban of weapons on ships. 3d printers are not allowed to print a gun, because they programmed them not to. Makes sense, since a research ship would probably not need heavy weapons to keep fish out, but they would never have accounted for that ship to be blown out of orbit and the crew killed.

Thats the lore at least. Gameplay wise, it adds to the spooks. It would be like playing amnesia or outlast with a shotgun- just kind of ruins the mood

Of course it's still possible. You will have to build the basics in your submarine, and this includes a fabricator, ann outdoor growbed with marblemelons, batteries and power cells recharger, and eventually, big lockers and upgrade station.

You will only get eaten by sharks if you let your Cyclops do too much noise and it gets attacked, then go outside to repair the hull only to get bitten. That, or if you let the cyclops get destroyed (which you can salvage afterward but not rebuild)

After like three or four hours that was my impression.
The fact that the hunger and thirst meter goes down retard fast makes the game like a fucking chore, and from what I've seen, you'd probably need dozens of hours until you become self-sufficient.
>>
>>382053058
I actually think that guns would make it scarier. Just make monsters more aggressive, but tough enough so that it still takes a while to kill them with guns. For me, knowing I can fight back, but might not survive if I do, is scarier than only being able to run away. Since it adds decision making.
Then again, this isn't a horror game.
>>
>>382053058

you can build fish tanks and put fish that are good eating in it, let them reproduce, and eat their children endlessly
or you can farm lantern fruit and never need to care about food/water again
I suppose it could take dozens of hours to get to either of those things without help, but if you know what you're doing you can be there incredibly quickly
>>
>>382053279
You can turn hunger and thirst off though so that's a plus.
>>
>>382053058
I just think it's retarded that in a game that's full of aggressive fauna, it's retarded that you're not given the option to make some kind of lethal weapon late-game.
In the MC's place, I'd sure as fuck make it a priority.
And it's not like you're playing a Krishna follower tier non-violent monk, you have to kill a small fish every couple of minutes just you don't die of thirst.
>>
>>382024091

Well, the reason for the lack of weapons is forced opinion.

It's also funny how we have a dagger which is a very common murder weapon, even used more than so called assault weapons in the US.

If it was consistent, we'd get some type of safety knife that can only cut.

Not to mention the lack of spearguns, which are actually glorified sling shots and aren't used for murder except in odd instances.

>hear fish swimming up behind me

it might sound very minor, but its satisfying to execute

It's still too large to be killed by a single speargun and there are no fully automatic spearguns that will fire 50 spears that I know of.

Sure, put in a speargun. I want it to literally do nothing but cause enemies to become enraged and even harder to deal with.
>>
>>382012446
Politics, nothing else. Their issue isn't that there are no guns but the idea they aren't there cause "MUH ESS JAY DUBZ"
>>
>>382062157
I don't think most people care much about large enemies, it's shit like areas filled with bonesharks that just get obnoxious as hell.

You can already kill leviathans quite easily with a grappling arm prawn, guns are really not much of an issue in the first place.
>>
I wish this game had multiplayer.

I'm fucking terrified of the ocean/deep ocean, Ark was horrible and I'm sure this game would be worse.
>>
>>382062626
>It's still too large to be killed by a single speargun
Says who? Also it could be chased off even temporarily if you severely wounded it. As for your other point do you know what a quiver is? You realize you can hold more than one spear right?
>>382062718
Why do people respond to a post 9 hours later just to circlejerk?
>>
>>382062791
But a spear gun has ONE FUCKING SHOT

THAT'S IT

It would be an item that takes up as much inventory as the stasis gun but gets one shot. So yeah, take up a quarter of inventory for the ability to kill a single sand shark. It's not as if people use spearguns to go underwater and slaughter dozens of sharks.
>>
>>382062895
Ammo would be expensive as hell then, and why bother when you have shit like repulsion and stasis rifles?
>>
>>382062895
Spears are larger nigga. You're gonna strap several 5 feet long fucking spears on your back or you gonna take a reaper out with a bunch of tacs?

Let's not even get to the fact your idea would make reapers such a non threat it wouldd be a joke.

>>382063181
It doesn't have to make them a non threat. If you miss time the shot while it's charging at you, you die. Risk vs Reward.

I'm not sure where you get the idea you can only hold one rod comes from though.
>>
>>382063013
I believe people are imagining something more like a harpoon gun with a rope and handcrank, decent damage but longish reload time.
>>
>>382063013
I don't give a fuck about spear guns anon, I mean to steer the conversation away from that ridiculous concept (because it is, you have energy weapons and you want to use expensive projectile ammo like fucking spears? How retarded is that?) And towards the notion that there needs to be a better answer to swarms of bonesharks being literally everywhere, not being particularly dangerous but just obnoxious as hell.

Most of the wildlife in Subnautica gives me that feeling though, it's not hard to deal with or scary, just tedious and annoying.

Pay attention to the story and you wouldn't be so clueless as to why this is a problem, though admittedly the character not having the sense to fashion the dumb knife into a spear is a bit of a stretch.

Suffice to say the character is autistic as fuck and can't even fry a fish without a fabricator.
>>
>>382063013
>But a spear gun has ONE FUCKING SHOT
Not him, but you ever play that game where one team plays as sharks and another team plays as divers? The spear guns all shoot at a relatively decent pace. Because it's a video game. It has the appearance of a harpoon gun because the game takes place in the ocean, but it can shoot repeatedly for balance, because you'd never be able to kill the shark players otherwise.
