SMW and DKC2 are still the greatest 2D platformers ever created, and some SNES era JRPGs, like Super Mario RPG, Chrono Trigger and FF6, are simply amazing.

this. Retropie is pretty solid. I have a Pi 2 with it, runs pretty good. Controller support and easy to install as long as you can follow simple instructions.
Only thing that runs like ass is the N64 emulator. You can try to tweak around the configuration a bit but almost every game needs different settings to run at a playable level.
But N64 emulation isn't the most reliable even on PC so i don't blame them. Maybe it's a bit better on a Pi 3.

Been i while since i played with it. last i know is that they added ppsspp but i have no idea how it runs.

There are much better modern platformers not limited by inferior tech and Nintendo censorship.

These are just outdated with underdeveloped game design, cumbersome controls and again Nintendo censorship.

I have one from 8bitdo. Can't really tell you if it's better than other USB Controllers but it also works as a Bluetooth Controller and it has Firmware Modifications made by the company that makes it possible to use on consoles too.

It is a bit better on a Pi 3, though it doesn't work for all games. Had no issues for Mario 64 and Ocarina of Time though.

It's a much better alternative than the NES classic. And as a bonus, you can play GBA games on the big screen too.

Hw good is the Dreamcast emulation on these things? Having something like this, that I can take with me everywhere to play MvC2 and Ikaruga seems pretty ideal.

If you have a Wii or Wii U you can just use that for your emulation machine.
You can play around with homebrew apps so you can use SNES USB controllers too.

Nope, its hackable on the latest firmware.
For NES, SNES, GB, GBA, N64, and DS games, your options are
>pirate the Virtual console games
>inject games that aren't on Virtual Console into the the VC emulator (like I did in my pic above)
>use Retroarch, which actually runs well on Wii U
You can also play pirated Gamecube and Wii games through the Wii mode.
You can install pirated Wii U games to your system memory and play them normally (even online) so if there's something you missed on Wii U you could do that too.
You can use a homebrew app called HID to Vpad to replace a pro controller input with a USB controller.
In this pic I have a normal pro controller in slot 1, the Pokken controller in slot 2, and and a USB SNES controller in slot 3

I'm honestly not very good at it myself, I mostly try to scour the usual sites (DarkUmbra, Chaozgames, etc) to find WUPinstaller-ready versions of injected VC games. I've found Banjo, Perfect Dark, Quest 64 and a few others this way

I tried Virtual Console Creator and Plain editing the ROM of the unpacked game and using NUSPacker and it never works. I will try looking on those sites if they have the games I want to play.
