No. On a hardware level the superfamicom and the SNES are literally 100% identical. The only difference is case design and cartridge shape. If you cut out the little tabs on the SNES, then you can play both no problem

FF3 and Earthbound alone are like $55 on eBay. I'd still have to buy a system.

Can I emulate these games? Absolutely, but the fact is that it's going to be convenient to have a box that I can push one switch to turn on and have games going. It's going to be a cool collectors item, and all my normalfag friends are going to enjoy it more than explaining how to setup an emulator on their phone or PC.

I got a raspberry pi 3 with retropie, it does everything that the NES classic and SNES classic does. No regrets.

I want one cause I think it's cool to have a mockup of the actual console with the option of 1080p output but none of us will be able to get one anyway. Can't wait for Nintendo to produce a whopping 54 units and be sold out in 30 seconds due to scalpers.
