I just beat the Darkness 2. Shame about it being so short but it is one of the more satisfying shooters I've played.

I wish the first one was on PC. I remember it being moody in a really good way.

The act of piercing involves putting a lot of energy into one very tiny concentrated area, ie the tip of an arrow or a spear's tip. A clumsy sword stroke would bruise you, at the very worst break a bone from the impact, but a good thrust of any decent weapon would punch right through and fuck your shit.

Because different force vectors are applied during slashing and puncturing attacks. When you stab a motherfucker, all the force is concentrated in a single sharp, narrow point, which increases it to a level where something like chainmail has no way of preventing penetration. And there's more force behind a stab when compared with a slash, because the movement is entirely different, and you're putting a lot more weight behind it.

everything past the era of handgonnes are also the reason that plate mail went obsolete in professional armies. it might sound like common sense, but there are a surprisingly amount of people who really don't understand how the gun and the bullet changes the face of warfare and how fundamentally different they were to a bow and arrow.

chainmail is fantastic, when combined with tanned leather or gambesons it was 100% a total upgrade to just wearing some padded cloth, and when applied as a layer under plate mail it just added that extra little bit of survivability that could or couldn't matter depending on battlefield conditions

of course plate mail had its own issues. it's a lot more mobile than some people would have you think, but visibility, heat, quick access to treating injuries and blunt trauma could fuck you over in an absolute heartbeat. also generally it could only be afforded by the nobility, which is why knights + cavalry are always pictured in it and not normal battlefield pikemen

at the end of the day, the best defense is not getting hit. ideally your armor is there for when that plan fails horribly and some Moorish cunt is trying to de-Christ you with his scimitar

Depends I dont wanna see gore all over the place in mario but no blood in GTA would be weird. Mount and blade is pretty good theres blood and if you really kill alot you start to drown in blood which is nice. If im playing a stylish over the top game like no more heroes I better fuckin get fountains of the stuff.

I prefer the type where the AI reacts when I shoot the bullet in their leg or writhes in pain when they get gunned down instead of ragdolling. For the moment, I settle with modded Skyrim.
