I bought two cheap SNES's. One with a yellowed top, and one with a yellowed bottom. I swapped them and got one pristine SNES and one shitty one. And then I sold the shitty one for the same price I paid for. That's how you get a cheap but beautiful SNES.

It's the only way to play an authentic release of Star Fox 2 so it's pretty much a requirement for any Nintendo fan.

Back then plastics imported from japan had to meet a certain fire safety standard. It's some kind of flame retardant shit mixed in with the plastic or something. That's why everything from consoles to carts to controllers of that era all yellow if exposed to UV light.

Yes, and actually you have it backwards. They removed that standard during the SNES's lifespan, that's why some later models didn't yellow.

If I remember correctly Microsoft seems willing to do a deal, but it's Nintendo that doesn't want to, for example, that Goldeneye remaster that was canned because Nintendo refused to allow it to release, even though it was nearly finished. However, I could be completely wrong.
