That's roit. The answer is Persona 5
Because all turn based games are JRPG
>>381948352

>>381949294
Nois neva woulda thought it be like that by miself.

>>381950924
...
Doesn't that prove that Persona 5 is a JRPG?
I like how basic genre concepts absolutely blow /v/s mind and send them into a horrifying debate. You never see boardgamers this autistic about the genre called Euro being defined as something better than "all games that come from Europe"
>>381951373
But they're both role-playing game and they're both japanese.
JRPG is a genre. It's not just an RPG made in Japan, because that's a fucking useless label. Whatever you may think of Extra Credits, this video is worth watching if you're confused about the distinction

>>381951683
>Whatever you may think of Extra Credits
No legitimate credibility. Opinion discarded
>>381950830
Some have realtime systems
>>381951683
But it's even more ridiculous to say that Legend Mana is a WRPG and Wizardry is a JRPG.
>>381951683
You know jrpgs were inspired by western rpgs
>>381948352
Both are objectively JRPGs
I appreciate and understand this joke thanks anon
>>381951886
JRPGs were initially inspired by tabletop pen and paper RPGs and really early computer RPGs like Wizardry. Not exactly modern WRPGs
>>381951551
Just look at teh site. Dah's cheetin
Dark souls is just edgier version of brave fencer musashi.
>>381948352
Is this guy legit retarded?
I have to work with a literal retard and he fucking nails everything he does
The same awkward silence where you hear his brain overheating, repeating his disproven argument in low volume, sight wandering everywhere but the faces of those refuting him, repeating the same stupid argument over and over
And the cake of it all, the fucking laugh. It's a fucking carbon copy of the retard I'm used to, the one that uses when he knows he fucked up but doesnt understand why and tries to alleviate the tension with.
This is either a god tier actor or a legit tardo
>>381948352
Dark souls is a wrpg fitting into the western tradition. Persona 5 is a jrpg due to perceived Japanese virginity emanating from it.
>>381948352
technically all games are role playing games, as you are playing the role of someone or something
>>381952708
Tetris?
>>381952134
Are you fucking retarded?
>>381952708
the "Role" in roleplaying game doesn't mean you take on a role in a story sense, it means you take on a specific niche within gameplay which is fairly permanent and can't be easily changed out of.
So for example, your "Role" is that you're a rogue, and can do stealth checks well, and perform sneak attacks, but suck in a straight fight, and can't heal.
I'd make the distinction between "Hard RPG" and "Soft RPG", the former being something like D&D, the latter being something like Skyrim. In this sense, Dark Souls would fall into a Harder RPG, whereas Persona 5 is a fairly soft RPG (since you can switch personas easily)

Or we could stop putting games into annoyingly specific catergories when we all know they can(and usually do) have elements from the entire spectrum of genres
So, /v/...
what's yer 'hing?
