Spatial paradox, probably destruction of reality
>>
>hl2.exe has stopped working
>>
Nobody knows because portals like those in the games Portal and Portal 2 aren't possible in real life and there is no canon evidence for what happens in such a situation in the games or their side material.
>>
even by portal physics this wouldn't work because portals are broken as soon as the surface they're on starts moving

The door closes and the portal is behind the door.

The earth is constantly moving though

You could place portals on a moving platform in 2.
Hell, you placed one on the moon.

Side of the box goes through the blue portal, opens its side, goes along the wall untill it stuck

I hate to link this faggot but portal movement is supported in 2

The first portal laid out would disappear the moment they touch.

l-lewd...
>>
>>381948723
When you shoot the portal it already goes out at the earth's speed. The wall is also at the same speed. Everything is going around at the same speed (or velocity, whatever the right term).

It disapears when the wall moves cuz then it's at a different speed than the portal/earth
>>
>>381948337
the box would come through the portal and might even cause the door to open before the back of the box comes into contact with the emerging end, thus i suppose it would hang on itself and get stuck in place. not the most complex portal conundrum
>>
>>381948686
This
Why is so hard to understand?
Considering that portals can be placed on moving surfaces
>>
>>381948865
So the portal universe is connected by love?
it all makes sense now
>>
>>381949115
Except part of the blue portal is going into the orange portal too, so it should be coming out of the other end as well, which doesn't make sense because the portal that everything's coming out of also can't just teleport itself.
>>
>>381948337
since there no blue portal the yellow one would disappear
>>

this

every other post is wrong
there is no "portal physics" because we don't know exactly how portals operate. A wormhole isn't even a portal because it's a 3-dimensional hole, whereas a portal is a 2-dimensional hole

>>
>>381953873

works is not the same as works in theory.

We have no idea what (maybe undiscovered) laws of physics operate in / around portals.
That is a fact.
There could be undiscovered laws of physics in relation to portals, astrophysics certainly suggests this.

>t. I have never heard of logic
Let someone with intelligence explain this dumb meme to you: We'll take it slow

Panel 1: A container with nothing in it
Panel 2: The container now has a blue portal in it
Panel 3: The wall now has a yellow portal on it.
Panel 4: The container shuts with the blue portal inside
Panel 5: The container moves into the yellow portal and the blue portal moves with the container
Panel 6: The face of the container enters the yellow portal and comes out of the blue portal and is inside of the container with the portal. The container keeps moving through the portal until it hits its own door and stops moving.

Here's a nice example of what would happen if one was open.

But sadly, with the wall in the way, the most that happens is that the wall just blocks itself from the inside, preventing it from going anywhere.
>>
For portals not to be paradoxical, they may move translatory, but not relative to each other.
>>
>>381948337
the game, which in portal is the universe, would crash
>>
>>381949115
a portal going inside a portal would mean that there would be part of the first portal coming out of the second portal and therefore going back through the first portal creating a loop of itself
>>
what does the back side of a portal look like? Does it connect to the backside of the other portal?
>>
>>381948337
The portals disappear since they can't be on surfaces that move.
>>
>>381956734
by that logic portals can never be on any surface ever because all surfaces are moving relative to some other frame of reference.

A better rule is that portals, once placed, can never be moved RELATIVE TO EACH OTHER.

>>
>>381960607
Hasn't the exact thing been done in within portal 2? I don't get how people can say portals don't work that way when shit is done within the very game they come from.
>>
>>381962543
It cannot be done in Portal 2 without modding or exploiting the game. The developers never intended for players to move through moving portals so any code written for it, if any, is just a hack job and not necessarily Valve's view on how portals should work.
>>
>>381959341
no
>>
If the surface the portal is contained on is larger than the portal itself, it won't fit.

For instance, the box edges that the blue portal is in. They're clearly bigger than the blue portal itself, so they won't be able to fit out the end of the blue portal.
>>
>>381963390
What's it like browsing 4chan through braille? Portals are fucking ovals.
>>
You do realize all portals are the same size right? So if they blue portal is in the closet-box That means that the box as a whole is too big to fit in the orange portal anyway. This isn't complicated, you're just retarded.
>>
>>381963650
I wonder what it's like to be this retarded.
>>
>>381964146
>>381964086

Kids learn in elementary school that ovals (and in this case, the rectangular box the oval is placed in) are wide in one dimension and narrow in another, meaning two rectangles with the same area could still slip through each other.
>>
>>381948548
> real life

Real life isn't the reality being depicted in the image. The reality from Portal 2 is. Which is a reality with defined rules to make the games possible.

We're discussing what would happen in that reality / simulation. Changing the context to sound smart just shows that you aren't willing to have a discussion.
>>
>>381949894
It is. The bit of the Orange portal is on the other side tho.
>>
Portals require an infinite amount of energy to be created, we know this as there are various ways to create a perpetual motion machine with them which can only be possible if they already take an infinite amount of energy to make.
Since we know Energy = Infinity, let's do a couple of equations.
E = mc^2
As we know c = the speed of light or 299 792 458 m / s, and 299 792 458^2 is 8.9875518e+16, and that Energy is Infinity, the equation becomes
Infinity = m8.9875518e+16
The only way for the equation to match up with one another is if Mass is also Infinity.
Therefore, a portal has infinite mass.
F = ma
We already know m = Infinity so the equation becomes
F = Infinity x a
Any form of acceleration would require an infinite amount of force.
The portal cannot have 0 mass, as energy for massless objects can have the equation of
E = hf
Or Energy equals Planks Constant x Frequency, as Planks Constant is a finite number, frequency must be infinite.
The equation for energy can also be
E = hc / wavelength, as Planks Constant and Speed of Light are finite, wavelength must be 0.
But Light is equal to wavelength x frequency, but 0 x Infinity = 0, making light move at 0 speed if portals were massless.
Ergo, the portal can literally never move and thus this situation never happens.
>>
>>381948686
What would happen if you put your arm through the orange portal original and the one being teleported.
>>
>>381948686
What if you let it go?
>>
>>381964880
the entire premise is retarded. Nowhere does it say that portals have an infinite lifespan. maybe they collapse after portaling X kg of mass.
>>
>>381964490
Son it has nothing to do with shapes, the box is bigger than both of the portals, it won't fit straight up because the box is too big. It won't fit if you put the box on it's side because if you want to get past the inside of the door, it has to be open. If the door is open, then we're back where we started, the new L shape doesn't fit in the orange portal. At best you can put a small corner in an have it jut out of the blue portal, but that's just an illusion. Like when you would put two portals next to each other on the floor and the wall, then drop something in it. It looks like the object multiplies, but it's still just one object.
>>
>>381965727
>the box is bigger than both of the portals.

See this is why I called you blind. The box's width and length are clearly smaller than the portal's height and there is literally an animation in this very thread proving you retarded.
