Well there is three theories as to why they did it.

First theory is that they are pissed at Respawn for being adamant about not doing paid dlc such as maps, weapons and titans and instead only having cosmetic dlc.

Second theory is that EA is intentionally fucking over Respawn in hopes the studio will fail and they can absorb them.

Third theory is they wanted Titanfall to be the cod killer, Battlefield 1 would be for the people who love old styled weapons and titanfall would be for people who loved futuristic stuff.

Those three theories are motivated by greed.
