I think it looks great. It's weird and different, but in ways that actually look fun, with a good balance of classic-ish 3D Mario and new and interesting mechanics.

The problem is, if you have Koopalings in a mario games, that's 7 potentially unique bosses that will no longer exist because of the Koopalings.

Their cast is just too big and if they just used 3 Koopalings or something fans of the others would get pissed off. Bowser Jr. with his Mechs of the week solved the boss bloat issue.

Though I wouldn't mind them if you fought them all at once in a boss rush just once in the game.
