Plutoo mentioned that the Switch’s OS is apparently named Horizon, based on data and strings found in the sysmodules. Interestingly, it seems Horizon was also the name of the 3DS operating system.

Some of the findings can already be found on the switchbrew wiki. The dumped modules include libs to handle usb, wlan, audio, etc. This is one of the first steps in understanding how the Nintendo Switch works internally. Typically, the next steps for people who have access to these dumps will be to reverse engineer the entire libraries.

The result of that would be a source-code version of the modules, which would help finding vulnerabilities, or, further down the line, build utilities such as an SDK for homebrew development or even be the base for a Nintendo Switch emulator.
