A lot of the fun comes from roleplaying your empire and the unexpected consequences that can arise. If you play as a min maxer its going to be pretty boring

It has many good ideas and is relatively unique but almost every system is flawed in some way or otherwise poorly implemented. The people behind it are simply incompetent. Its still fun though, although I would suggest heavily modding it. I mostly just enjoyed it for roleplaying reasons. I bought the game but pirated the DLC.

It's a solid 4X game, and super fun. But it's got a lot of big flaws.
Pirate it, and buy it next year when it's finally finished.

It's an alright game, but it really needs a lot more content to actually pad the game. I hear we're going to get Synthetic Fallen Empires in 1.8 and Synthetic Hiveminds, but like everything else, the novelty of that will wear off after a few games.

Yeah, I saw that. Will that completely replace the AI rebellion? Or will it be something superimposes over it, with the synths blowing up your spaceports and setting off bombs on your world being the background for the new shit?

It's a pretty good time sink. The actual gameplay is ok, nothing amazing but it has a big role playing aspect and A TON of mods and can easily be modded by yourself.

Diplomacy is garbage, espionage is non-existent. Optimum combat is just a blob of basic corvettes otherwise it's just a blob.

Its main gimmick are events but there's very few of it that you'll devour the game's entire event content in a single campaign.
