I must have over 200 hours logged on this game and I have never noticed any real or persistent issues with the camera.

The only two moments I can remember are when you have to climb up the back of the ferris wheel in Pinna Park and when you have to turn the boos into platforms in Sierra Hotel.

I really don't understand how so many people have an issue with it.

Mario took a trip at the wrong time and got framed for something he didn't do. He fixed this wrong though by collecting shine sprites that were scattered about the island, and performed community service. Everything's good now.

It's specific to just this one game and took years to make.

Sunshine just has lower lows.
No one is making you get all the optional shines anyway.
Sunshine having mandatory shines is actually it's biggest problem.

This is a good thing, in sunshine's case. The fact that all of the levels share a consistent theme and feel like actual places on the island is half of what makes sunshine appealing.

Everyone can do everything in the game with enough practice, child. The only difference is that speedrunners use the shit that everyone can already do in the most optimized way possible (this is where the autism helps out). You're perfectly capable of using every mechanic in 64 and Sunshine unless you're legitimately bad at the games.

I didn't like this game in 2002. I didn't like the island theme or abandoning of tropes. I didn't like FLUDD. I didn't like the camera. I stopped playing 1/3 of the way through and tried on and off to get back into it for years until finally I got really into it a couple years ago.

So 13 years after hating it, I played it from the beginning and loved it. I love the island theme, the music, the originality. The lack of tropes is now a breath of fresh air. Secret stages are actually challenging platform gameplay. FLUDD is fine now. The camera is still a pain but this is mainly limited to a couple of sections in pinna park. I thought it was one of the best games I played in a while. This was a couple years ago

Unused game files indicate that Corona Mountain would have been its own area (presumably with 8+ shines) instead of the final level.
Cut content in games is such a shame. There's tons of interesting beta stuff about Sunshine if you youtube it.

Well I never thought Gelato Beach was very good, it is made up of what are essentially three horizontal planes and has very little verticality compared to other worlds like Noki Bay and Ricco Harbor.
The missions there also aren't very good: Two red coin missions, a 'kill all the enemies', a boss fight, an El Piantissimo level which is reused twice and then the dreaded watermelon level.

It's bullshit for me because I put in work to get those secret stars thinking it was like 64 where every star could count towards whatever you're trying to do. I wasn't aiming for 100 percent and never was, so it's frustrating to now know that all that frustration and tedium on things like the lilipad level didn't actually get me closer to beating the game.
