If you are talking about the ending, I like ending D and E much more, but it's clear that 9S was a sort of final boss of the game, the completely broken walking result of every crazy and heartless shit that was going on both on the scene and beyond the scene, while A2 was the hero who was actually still fighting for and trying to do something positive for the people that were around her, the scene in ending D in which she does her best to save 9S was genuinely great and heroic, shit felt incredibly healthy after that trip in hell that was the last tower. Nothing can be compared to that excellent sci fi writing that was ending D and that masterwork of ending E, though.

But I do think that during the first parts of route C 9S and A2 were very similar, two broken rabid victims of that world, the difference is that later they took two opposite different routes, what happens during route C makes 9S completely descend into madness, with the red girls deliberately mind raping him being the last straw, while A2 became less and less a cold war machine until she acted in a genuinely heroic way during ending D. Compare her reactions, words, voice, and body language during the scene in which she killed 2b and during her confrontation with 9S.
