What do people mean when they say "esports ruined (insert game here)'s multiplayer"?
that esports ruined the mentioned game's multiplayer
They are mad someone gets paid for being better at a game than them

>noobs start watching mlg streams
>they learn how to play the characters/maps
>I can't noob bash anymore
Fucking ruins the experience when the competition level is high
They're upset that they're equally autistic but NOT making money.

But how

Generally it means they make it so it has lowest entry point possible and more geared toward viewership, I guess?
Personally I hate the term esport because nowadays it's used for anything that remotely competitive and the scene feels so sterile because they're trying to be "inclusive".
It's like these devs/pubs are just throwing loads of money for competition and viewership to make their community artificially huge or something
People become more competitive and competent at the game if it has an esport scene, which is good.
The downside is a lot of people begin to take winning a bit too seriously and will rage like crazy over losses or if they don't like how the other people play.

More like
>noobs try and play like pros
>get mad at those who don't
>still end up garbage at game and ruin the fun
"Meta" was a fucking mistake
Esports heavily influenced Riots design philosophy which led to many people quitting.
>character is designed for specific role but can fit niche roles
>Esports discovers character is broken in niche role
>players begin to emulate behavior
>riot rebalances, nerfs and simplifies character so they can only fit one single role
When I quit league it was because several of the characters that I played in off lanes were nerfed to be unplayable in those lanes.
